Anyones thoughts on Navaja vs. Deep Space ?

I have had both and I agree on the booziness of Navaja, almost hot. On the other hand, Deep Space went down so smooth I was only reminded of the ABV once I got up off the couch

They dropped Crusher down to 8% (I liked it better at 9 myself). I agree that Navaja cans can be a little too alcohol forward. I recall buying a howler of it and having it the same night and didn’t find it to be as boozy. Don’t take that as overly meaningful but I’d like to try that again to see if it rings true again

Funnily enough, my main issue with Deep Space is how boozy it is. That could be partially related to the fact that I was basing it off my experiences with Space, though. I'm a much bigger fan of Navaja, but a big part of that is how mosaic-forward it is.

Yeah the malt in Deep Space doesn't agree with my palate anymore

That's always been my problem with both Space and Deep Space.

To this day Space is still my favorite Half-Acre beer and one that I order most frequently when visiting Lincoln park location. Partly because I like the citrus front and don't mind the dry finish, and partly because it's the first beer that wowed me from them. Brings me back to a time before the NE style IPAs started dominating.

Because of that I also prefer Deep Space. The first time it was available I thought it was Space on steroids. I look forward to Deep Space more than Navaja as a result. Navaja to me is just noticeably boozy and even though I don't mind that at all in imperial stouts, I don't necessarily like it in the DIPA/TIPA style.

Funnily enough, Space was the first Half Acre beer that got me interested (I went into Daisy Cutter with high hopes, but didn't get wowed by it) in their stuff, and a few weeks later, one of the first batches of Navaja (summer of 2013; I made an account just to review that beer) was the first beer of theirs that blew me away.

The canned Navaja is pretty different from that initial batch, though; it was slightly sweeter and I think had Hallertau Blanc hops prominently on display.

Hey now, no hating on Navaja! The boozy punch is what keeps me coming back. Second favorite HA brew for me behind Galactic Double Daisy.

I had your exact avatar when I joined in 2013. Glad I switched; Navaja is an all-time fave of mine, but the person with it as their screenname deserves it! :stuck_out_tongue:

Your not-so-local Colorado troll joining in to say: Space is also my fave, still, after all these years. When it comes to their bigger stuff, for me it's Navaja* (1), Double Daisy (2), and then Deep Space (3). The last one has too much malt for me to enjoy it as much as I should given how much I love regular Space. damn this feed...gives me beer heart-ache every time. Cheers... *mopes off into distance*

*though give me three Navajas and I start behaving like a demented teenager on acid.

A decent selection of HA have now arrived in the UK. Picked up a couple of each of the 4 currently available. So that's my weekend sorted.

All great beers. Be careful with that Navaja, it's dangerously smooth for its high ABV.

God, it's so cool that one of my favorite local breweries is all the way out in the UK.

Gone away is great, Navaja is one of my faves. Enjoy!
Yeah man, I'm definitely looking for Navaja the next time I'm in London. That'll be a trip.

Thanks, looking forward to trying these. Seems a fair amount has been brought over, lots of places listing them, in can & kegs

Well not to rub it in, but I also ordered the Cloudwater 3rd anniversary DIPA for weekend consumption, so best of both worlds !

Damn, not a nationalist mope usually, but you're getting HA in the UK, and I can't even buy a single can here in Colorado! Outrageous! Good day to you, sir!
    But seriously.
Shit. Gonna have to get on the horn to Beer Temple again.
