Not the right neighborhood, but the Lakeview WF (on Ashland/Belmont) had a ton of BHA yesterday. So I assume most of the WF in the city should have it by now.

So I picked up BHA Thursday and GDDC a few weeks and have been thoroughly disappointed with both.

Not much going on with either of them they are just blah.

Used to really love both of these beers but something is definitely off this year.

I don’t mean this to come off as rude, but I think you are in a very vast minority with that opinion.
Maybe your palate is just changing?

I, like most probably, drink a LOT of Half Acre beer. I have noticed this years galaxy batch isn’t quite as good as last year. Saw that with both Brickstone and half acres galaxy features this year. But both are still very good. I’m thinking this galaxy harvest isn’t quite as good as it was last year.

I responded because “dissapointed” is a strong word. BHA and GDDC are both really really good beers. If you truly don’t like these beers anymore, I’m guessing it’s you that’s changed, not the beers.

BHA is literally a smash beer. It’s vienna and Citra. It’s been the way forever.

Had Preen last night. It really is fantastic. Super juicy Half Acre DIPA. The aroma is off the charts on it. I could see where it might come off a tad sweet for some people. It was for me at the end of the can. Artwork on that gold can is killer.

I'm really glad I got the one 4 pack, but I'm not sure I'd fork over $20 for another. Just too many options out there for less $. We'll just see what my self control is like when I'm back up in a few days...

I agree with you on BHA. One of my least favorite HA beers. Has always come off at just OK. GTFO with your opinion on GDDC though.

Lifecycle is really good. Didn't think enough of the sample of Preen to pay $20 for a 4 pack.

BHA is one of my top 2 favorites, and i echo the sentiment that this batch is a noticeable step down from previous ones.

also, I don't know how long it has been that way, but the Half Acre instagram bio specifically mentions Lager Bier, which is pretty cool, and with all these recent lager releases seems they will continue doing more of them.

I agree on the GDDC note. Not nearly as good this year as I remember it being. Pretty boring IMO

For any folks interested in watching the World Cup matches, except for a few early games Balmoral is an option for you.

Damn! They should make special firkins for each match with a hop combo or other additive from the countries playing!

I look forward to these two and "disappointed" is exactly what I am.

While my palate has probably changed in the last five years somewhat from the first I had both of these beers, I don't believe it changed that much from last year.

My opinion, but they are off according to my palate.

I thought Beer Hates Astronauts tasted great this year. If that's a bad beer, I don't think I want to drink the "right" beer.

GDDC was fine - I used to enjoy it more, but I think that has more to do with a palate shift than it tasting any different.

I think I've personally drank 1.5 cases of BHA so far since it's release...yeah that beer is great.

I'll agree on the GDDC front. That beer has lost it's appeal for my palate.
