Ones tickets are fairly easy to come by and ones is a complete shit show.

Well, the original thought provided above was best festival in the Midwest, without giving any further definition, so there was plenty of room for countering. Your point got me thinking, though...what would you compare Big North to?

I'm not clamoring for either of these two to be proclaimed anything, I just got curious as to what you could really compare Big North to if you wanted to do "apples to apples". My initial thought was Mikerphone's recent fest, but that had beer from lots of places, and tickets were extremely hard to get (if we factor that into the comparison). Does any other brewery really do a fest like this? I can't recall, but my brain is barely functioning now.

Yeah I mean my comment was completely biased, obviously basis local proximity, ease of ticket acquisiton, value, and overall chill demeanor of festival. Rightly or wrongly, I place a lot of inherent value on the "not a shitshow" factor when comparing these things.

Oh and I just wanted to take a cheap shot at DLD, even though I go every year to that and enjoy it (this is just way less of an undertaking which is appreciated).

I have no idea. My thought went to Smells Like a Beer Fest as well. There's really no other brewery around Illinois that does what HA does with a giant party.

Half Acre is makes some delicious beer. I told a friend of mine in Chicago and he said he has never heard of or seen it. Here in the NY distribution area we seem to basically get 2 examples.

I get ya. It's why Milwaukee Brew Fest is one of my favorites. It's not WHALEZ town but it's an easy ticket for a solid beer festival right on the lakefront in the summer and free entry to German Fest is included :beers:

My thought just went to a fictional fest I've come up with in my head where Pipeworks has a fest that takes up all the parking lots around their Dojo. That fictional fest might give Big North a run for its money...if it were real.

God wouldn't that be awesome? Wasn't there a promise a while ago that they would do exactly that? Cmon PW.

Might want to hail Satan for this one to come to fruition. I hear he throws better parties anyways, with all the Ferrari cakes and whatnot.

It would be a real damn good time if they did that. I look forward to the first annual PW fest. Now taking names for said fest. Paging @Quilentro

Alright, enough with big north, I’ve already drank all of my Preen. Anybody still hanging onto cans, or see it on draft anywhere? How’s it tasting now

Ticket process a breeze. Beating a dead horse, but love how smooth the whole thing is from start to finish.

Doubt this will sell out any time soon. Didn't last years tickets last a while online? And then they always release in-person tickets.

Yeah they lasted a while. Surprising considering this is the best party of the summer every year.

Out of Towner visiting. Are there usually lines for releases? Wanting to check out the From the Trees release. Any input from locals?

No lines at all. Grab some samples at the counter & shop at your leisure.

Do yourselves a favor and grab a pour of Eat Shop. Draft-only IPA available at both taprooms. Even though I've been on a lactose IPA hiatus, I'm glad I tried this one, it's fantastic.
