The Half-Acre thread (2018)

In the past would some of these Big North one-offs pop up at either HA location immediately or soon following the fest?

 

I haven't seen the benthic variants pop up any other time (maaaaybe when the release benthic but someone else can comment on that). The sours definitely do though - with Raspberry Loam showing up this Friday already (on site only).

 

I can't post a link of it from work, but just got the e-mail about Far & Away on October 13th...that looks pretty sweet. Killer lineup of breweries. I think I'm going to have to get tickets for that one.

$80 is quite a bit of cash, but that's both a fantastic lineup and location.

 

Really wish we weren't out of town for this one. Killer lineup, killer location.

 

Great brewery lineup and I like that it at least seems to be unlimited pours.....but $80 seems a tad steep for 3 oz pours and only a 3 hour session. Basically the same as FOBAB likely though without "whales", but I could be wrong. On the fence with this....

This is true lol. West coast pumps their value like no other ha.

 

The price is certainly steep, but I think I'm in just because we don't get a chance to have a list of breweries like that available hardly ever around here. I'd probably pay $80 just to drink as much Other Half as I could for 3 hours, though.

It's pretty interesting they are doing this festival, with all the visiting breweries, and then still do their own festival (Big North) with only their beers. Pretty cool to have 2 separate events like that.

 

Screw "whales". That's a lot of cool breweries whose products aren't availabe in the Chicago market. Very cool get by Half Acre to attract notable breweries from all across the US.

 

That's the main draw, for me (although than the setting). It's very cool to have a chance to drink this stuff all in the same place.

 

I just saw the list that was at Rar dank day and was thinking we why can’t ever have a killer lineup of out-of-distro breweries at any local events. Looks like things have changed, I’m in!

 

I just thought of another awesome aspect of this. Half Acre could make themselves a huge player in the craziness that is the November & December special releases in Chicago. We know we've already got BCBS and Revolution's Deep Woods (and probably stuff from Mikerphone, More and others). My guess is we'll be seeing some collaborations with a few of these heavy hitters when they're in town in October...and those will probably be ready for release in November & December.

Add that to their own release of Benthic that usually occurs in early December, and that could be awesome.
