Half Acre has consistently thrown the best beer parties in Chicago. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a ticket. Their parties a part of the holy trinity that is FOBAB and zwanze day.


Super upset that I have to miss this due to a wedding.

 

Coming at the end of July. Another example of why HA has the best looking cans in the business imo.

Totally agree w this. Drank them side by side on Friday and the shorts blew the ha F78 out of the water. The ha tasted flat, muted sorta muddled while the shorts really popped.

 

I had the F78 after having some Space last weekend... F78 didn't measure up on taste for me. Not that it was really bad or anything, but I'd pass on F78 next time.

Even with all the nice Half-Acre IPA/DIPA releases over last few months, Space for me is still in the top 2-3 of their offerings along with Deep Space and Beer Hates Astronauts.

 

Anyone else intrigued by Rainbow Never Ends? I'm thinking about heading over during the day to grab a draft and try it before getting a growler or bottles. I didn't know if it being a collaboration with Other Half would make interest even higher.

 

Ditto. Going to try and do the same. Still new to the area so is a Friday 11am release normal here? Seems odd to me.

 

Liquid lunches are for realz in Chicago. And yes, HA does most of their releases on Fridays when they open.

Is this release at the Lincoln or Balmoral location? Do they do releases at each location? I'd hate to show up at the wrong one on Friday lol.

 

Releases at Lincoln shop only. They don't currently sell to the public out of the Balmoral location.

 

Rainbow Never Ends is very intriguing. Will definitely be hitting that up on Friday at some point. Guessing it will be a decent line? BHA wasn't much at all, but this is rarer.

 

While there certainly could be a line for it, Beer Hates Astronauts is one of HA's most popular beers, so logically I wouldn't assume this beer will have a longer one.

Yes and yes. I'd envision rainbow lasting through the weekend. Instead of going to a liquor store just buy cans from their Lincoln shop. This is where rainbow will also be sold.

 

Vanilla Big Hugs is the only release that I can think of that sold out of bottles on the day of. I believe even GDDC had a little left for Saturday. If you're going there, why not just get the cans there since they're fresh and stored cold?

 

Anyone know if this will hit distro?

 

I just put 2 and 2 together and realized I'm near HA on Friday for a Cubs game. It sounds likely that they will still have rainbow left around 5?

Anyone know the limits on bottles/growlers?
