The gold tabs are an incredible touch.

Finally got around to grabbing a 4 pack of Navaja yesterday and drank a couple last night. Delicious. Pretty drinkable for a DIPA.

Lizard King is 6%. But to your point, I was actually wondering the same thing when I was buying a bottle of Freedom (guava IPA). I will definitely be comparing to the Fish beers in my mind when I drink it.

I am staying pretty close to this location, so I will definitely stop in.

Just based on my memories of Freedom from (I think) last year, I wouldn't necessarily get my hopes up. The PW DIPAs start with a better base in my opinion than Freedom does (I remember Freedom of '78 being perfectly refreshing, but not particularly interesting). It's possible this year's recipe is improved, however.

In terms of Navaja vs. Lizard King, HA has always released a few batches of Navaja during the year, but you're right in that this is the first one that is canned, and that is so strongly Mosaic-hopped. I don't find them particularly interchangeable, though; LK is smoother and more balanced (party due to ABV, obviously), and Navaja is a little more alcoholic, and very dry in my opinion. Both great in their own right, and both have their place on my shelf.

I got to try Navaja this weekend. Anyone see it in stores yet?

Yeah, it hit stores all over this week. I assume Binny's has it, although I haven't been in yet this week.

Finally got to try a Navaja can. It's not quite as good as I remember, but still pretty tasty. I expect to go through a fair amount of it this football season.

Got a 4-pack from Binny's Grand last Tuesday afternoon. Wasn't out on the floor--had to ask for it.

I've seen this all over the place still with the most recent being last night at Capones...

Stopped at a few Binnys locations in the burbs last weekend and was told that what little they received was sold out. Went to Binnys LP and they had about 5 cases stacked.

I would assume this is they typical mad-rush that happens when a beer is first released. Since this is year-round, my guess is that in a few months it'll be relatively easy to find consistently.

Or, I'm hoping that's the case; it's pretty damn good for a year-round DIPA, so I won't be surprised if it's a hit.

There's a ton of it at the Lincoln Park Whole Foods as well (at least there was on Monday evening), and I thought I saw pictures from Beer Temple and/or Printer's Row that they got more in this week as well. I don't think this should be hard to find...unless you're in the burbs, in which case I don't know how well stocked the stores are.

From what I was told, they haven't put out a ton of cans yet, so that could be why it's a bit sparse. Would expect that to correct itself in the coming days/weeks.

If you can't find Navaja, you aren't trying. It is everywhere...

    False.

I looked under my desk and found none.

I just think some places were initially hit pretty hard. But I agree that it's still all over the place, enough so that if you've got a craving, there should be somewhere nearby you can pick it up (at least in the city).

Not in the western burbs. Most places are selling out day of receipt.

Oh, if they are in the suburbs people are probably buying the cans as soon as they come in thinking they are 14k gold cans....
