Anyone have any info on the new half acre location in Bowmanville? I understand they are brewing out of there now, but thought there was a restaurant and beer garden in the plans for the spring 2015.

On the half acre blog it says lincoln? hmm... "We got our second location pumping, grew our pack and in a month or so, we'll have an operational kitchen at our Lincoln Avenue location. We couldn't be doing what we're doing today if it weren't for the beer drinkers."

Yes, in the article I posted above it mentions this as well. This Lincoln Ave construction is in addition to the Bowmanville location construction.

The company plans to add a kitchen to the Lincoln Avenue taproom. Construction, pending approval of permits, is scheduled to begin next month and last six weeks, Magliaro said.

Per Half Acre's blog (12/1/15). The artwork never ceases to amuse and amaze me.

"The time comes, as it always does, to release Big Hugs Imperial Coffee Stout.

This is the 7th year we’ve brewed this stout. It’s always been a perpetual battle of misaligned forces; a dumb kitten that destroys with joy and rips at forgotten eras, far away places and warm traditions. Big Hugs walks the line between those who are fed and those who feed themselves.

We brew the beer to hold energy and drudge, to have a soft core and powerful impact. Each year places new focus on the base of approach and how we select and introduce coffee. We work with our friends at Dark Matter to collide under one more meaningful elixir.

This Big Hugs Release will flow as many have before it. Separate lines for cash and credit, with Dark Matter Coffee, food to line your insides, and a long list of reasons to stick around the brewery for a while.

This year, we also introduce Big Hugs Imperial Vanilla Coffee Stout. A 50/50 split of Tahitian and Madagascar vanilla beans create a docile line within a beastly heart.

We also turned the merchandise levels way, way up. It's been too long since we've thrown Big Hugs on a tshirt and we made up for it this year. There will also be a specialty bag of Big Hugs coffee beans and a brand new glass to shove in your cupboard.

We will start selling Big Hugs, Vanilla Big Hugs and the gear of your dreams on Sunday, December 13th at 11AM. We hope you can make it.

    Further details to come."

I'm very curious about this one. I'm also burned out when it comes to lines, so I really hope vanilla holds through Sunday.

I actually don't go to HA Sunday releases typically. I was hoping between this and regular Hugs I could mosey over mid afternoon Sunday and some trace. I admit it's a little optimistic.

You don't have to kill the dream!

BH hasn't lasted throughout the day in 2 years. Now that Vanilla is an option, it will just be a matter of how quickly they can check everyone out that started waiting in line Saturday evening.

Can someone explain Big Hugs to me? I know it's really popular, but is there a reason people will line up on Sunday for it? It just sits around in the Whole Foods near me, so I'm unclear what the rush is at the brewery.

I'm just happy with the pricing. A lot of beer releases are $20.00 or more. I'll be there Sunday.
