Can anyone who has gone to the past releases shed some light on what we can expect?

A long line that moves slowly filled with people who for some reason think this beer is worth waiting in line for.

Any idea on how long it typically last? I have passed on it for the past several years and might try to give it a go this year. I'm just debating as to whether or not I want to skip church to hop in the line hahaha

In my experience, there is no need to wait in line for Big Hugs. The last couple of releases I've gone to the store later in the day and had no problem grabbing any. Now, that was last year...this is this year... :-)

The line is going to be cray, if only due to the new vanilla variety. I'd love to try it, the regular is a very good coffee stout, but not planning to line up or anything. My prediction is that the first people will be there at 7 AM.

Yeah...and this year people are waiting inside liquor stores for hours, just hoping for a beer to show up. I'm hoping you're right, but I'm not optimistic.

It's honestly crazy to me that people line up for a non-BA coffee stout. I agree that that vanilla version is going to make things way more complex this year. I'm hoping stock holds for at least a couple hours on that one, but I guess we'll see what happens.

The vanilla version is what's going to do it..unfortunately.

I'd like to try both versions but I won't be waiting in line for it. I'm all 'lined out' from BC recently, and from my experience in being at previous releases for HA beers, line cutting is an epidemic at that place. At GDDC release, some guy was waiting in line near the fromt and then 5 other of his jackass buddies walked up minutes before doors opened and just merged in. That's just one example. For more, see the last GDDC release thread.

Last year the allotment began at 8 bottles and was later dropped to 4. I walked down around 1:15, brief wait in line, got four bottles. As the day went on the allotment was dropped to two and then growlers only...but that wasn't until after 4pm IIRC.

This will probably sound very "newb" of me, but will there be a good amount of distribution on this?

Thought about going with my wife, but friends of ours aren't showing up there until 12:30, which, to me, sounds awful.

    Any insight?

    #DoYouEvenCashBroz?

Last year I spent about 20 minutes in the cash line to get my bottles about an hour after the sale began. The credit card/shop line was way longer.

Historically they've released a small amount to the places in the city you'd expect (Binny's and the bigger beer stores). Stuff disappears really quickly, but it's out there.

And as usual, the Beer Temple will probably have it instantly.

Interesting insight! I might show up towards noon with some of that 'ol fashioned paper money, in that case.

If they run this event like last year, skip the bottle lines, just walk into the area for the guest pours, in between the tanks - Fremont's Cinnamon Coffee B-Bomb was glorious last year. And they had Abraxas too, nothing to shake a stick at.

People are lining up tomorrow night? It doesn't go on sale till 11:00 Sunday morning. I under stand lining up Sunday morning, but not tomorrow night for this event.
