The Half-Acre thread (2018)

I was joking, but people do crazy stuff for beer.

 

That's what I thought, but I wouldn't put it past people to do that.

 

I'll be there in the afternoon. Dry and still get a few bottles like last year.

 

This is going to be my strategy as well. Think the Vanilla will make it till then???

 

Everyone is allowed a max. of 2 bottle of vanilla, so that's a tough call. I guess I can always have it on draft in the tap room.

 

We'll see what influence (if any) the predicted inclement weather will have on this event come Sunday. Probably just means that instead of 100 people standing in line before open it will be just 50. (quasi-joke there)....

 

I see what you did there because there is a 50% chance of rain. However of all the breeds, neckbeards are the most resistant to precipitation.

 

And they want their vanilla Big Hugs.

 

Interesting stuff. I'm making my first beer field trip since Black Friday tomorrow, we'll see how lucky I get and if that sways me one way or another.

 

With a 2 bottle limit on vanilla, Sunday will be filled with mules and people trying to scam the system somehow. Good luck to all my fellow Chicagoans who aren't beer assholes.

Hey...no need to be aggressive, just because my mom, aunt, 3 cousins, and my next door neighbor Todd happen to be huge Half Acre Big Mugs fans.

 

I guarantee this is going to be a massive shit show. I bet that scraping a vanilla bean into an average coffee stout attracts the masses.

 

Vanilla Big Mugs sounds very interesting. Can't wait to read the reviews on that one.

 

I'm a huge HA fan but the last couple iterations of BH have not been anything special imo. I can't recall if it was 2011 or 2012 which I last thought was darn good. I think the latter. The coffee flavor was outstanding. Since then it's been average as you mention. Couple this with the increasing linesanity for the release and yeah, sitting this one out is an easy decision for me. I recall one of the employees mentioning a couple years ago that they added coffee using different techniques each year. Not sure if this is still the case. Will swing by next weekend for a howler of GoneAway & won't miss a beat for my appreciation for HA.
