They should've had a There and Back Again IPA.

Haven't had it, but I'm always wary when novelty comes before quality.

I've seen this in stores for some time now, definitely over a month. For some reason I just can't pull the trigger because my mind can't stop screaming "It's a gimmick, don't do it!" as I stand there looking at them.

As an aside: I'd kind of like to know how this 2-bit little brewery got the rights to LoTR.

This is completely ridiculous. Commercialization like this is bad for craft beer.

They actually aren't bad... Just average IMO.

They've been here in Oregon for at least a month, but I feel like at least 2-3 months, may be wrong though.

I found 2 of them to be very average. I didn't care for the stout.

Now I try and always judge on the beer itself, but they look really, really shit.

    Film/story branded beers...? WTF!?!
This worriers me. I agree with the commercial comments above...
Plus Everything since Tolkien wrote the original books has been muck so I see no reason for these three beers to be any different

They should do a Tom Bombadil beer that lasts for ages and bores the tits off you

Nah that one should be an Ent IPA... Tom was class in the books. Am I a nerd?

Or an Arwin American Adjunct Lager... pointless and annoying with no taste whatsoever...

I know a lot of people love him but I got seriously bored by that whole episode. It's probably been two decades since I read it though :open_mouth: still sticks in my mind when I forced my way though it though

    Anyway....beer

Does anyone know how far distribution is going? I would like to get 1-2 of each.

Some of you are acting like this is the beginning of the end for the craft industry. Lighten up.

I haven't seen it, and I don't even know if it's being sold in my area. If I do see it, I'll buy some. I'm a big fan of The Hobbit and LOTR, so I think this is cool.

I saw them in Houston, but the reviews nor the brewery impressed me so I did not pick them up. I would like to note that while I am weary of commercial branding I have been fairly pleased with the Game of Thrones/Ommegang series. Both the beauty of the art and the BEER (which is the end all judgement). If there is not a great beer in the bottle, I do not care how ornate the label is.

No opinion other than purchasers of Smaug Stout look to be getting gypped on their bottle fills.

Had Smaug Stout, wasn't good at all, I won't purchase any of the others.
