Don't see much on the site about this place. Anyone been there? How was beer, food, atmosphere?

I believe it's grand opening is this Saturday, but it's been "kind of" open for about a week or 2. Haven't been, but seems cool. Blind Pig on tap for their pig roast this Saturday. Patrick did a good job, I'm sure.

And now my new favorite spot is gonna get blown up!

    Just kidding...

I went last week for the first time. The beer was great. 21 beers on draft, very solid bottle list. It's owned by the same guy who own's Alewife so you know the beer is gonna be consistently good. The prices were very reasonable and all NY state beers are $5 during happy hour. The atmosphere is great too. Kind of a dive bar vibe with an upscale twist if you will. Nice decor with a pretty relaxed vibe (at least for now). They also have this phenomenal handmade mirrors on the wall built by Shaun Hill's brother which are pretty sweet. The staff was all very knowledgeable and friendly.

It's still in their "soft opening" so it wasn't fully up and running yet. Currently less than half the place is open. It's a little cramped by the bar (very narrow), which I can't imagine what it'll be like if the place is packed. It's U-shaped, and eventually one half will the bar (long bar in front with some high tables in back) with the other half being a coffee bar that also does growler fills. I'm not sure if the kitchen is up and running yet, but the food that they (will) have sounds good.

They were in the process of also setting up a backyard area with picnic tables that looks nice (albeit almost underneath the 59th st bridge).

They're having their Grand Opening party this Saturday 10/12. I was told that there would be some special kegs going up and possibly a pig roast. If I wasn't going to be in Baltimore for the Packers/Ravens game I would be there in a heartbeat.

They opened about 3 weeks ago now and WiscoNYC pretty much hit the nail on the head with every single thing he said. I've been there twice so far and will be there Saturday for the grand opening party.

    My biggest take aways were:

    1. The quality of the beer was very good. Great bottles and cans so far (they had Heady Topper a few weeks ago), and I'd imagine they will only get better with Patrick's connections. The selection was pretty diverse as well, and I didn't see anything smaller than a 12 oz. pour (Bruery Tart of Darkness).
    2. The prices are very good to great. As WiscoNYC said, during happy hour (think they do 1 or 2 a day, including a late night happy hour?) any beer from NY state is $5, which is pretty great. Most beers ranged from $7-9 for a 12-16 oz. pour.
    3. When the backyard area gets opened up it'll be even better, as it can get cramped by the actual bar.
    4. 4-5 flatscreens for football throughout the inside, which is always nice.

I was told in mid-October the backyard would open up, the full food menu would expand, and they would start opening at 12PM vs. the 4PM it has been...I'd imagine after the Grand Opening this weekend those things would go into place.

Living a 9 min walk away I plan on making this place my new go-to local bar, along with Pony Bar UES....I really liked it there.

I went 2 Fridays ago! They were open for their "soft" launch. Great spot and some great beers on tap (NY beers were $5). Really nice people and friendly bartenders. Pretty much conveying the same info that others have said. It's 2 blocks from where I work, so i'll be frequenting there often!

Little tidbit of info - their mirrors were done by Darren Hill

Swung by the other day. Draft list was stacked with quality brews for their official opening. Hope it stays that way. Nice addition to NYC craft beer scene.

Agreed. Was also there on Saturday for a few hours and had a great time...the beers on tap and in bottles were fantastic. We tried some of the new items on the food menu in the crostinis, jerky, and the soft pretzels (not to mention the free pig they roasted) and all the food was great too.

Looking forward to going there a lot more.

outrageously expensive. if i want to pay $8 for 12 oz of an american IPA or $10 for, well, anything, i'll go to torst. no way.

Great addition the Manhattan. These are from the same owners of Alewife in LIC and the theory carries over.

Happy hour, which is twice a day every day is $5 for NY beers. $7-8 drafts is the norm as far as I'm concerned nowadays so I don't know where the $10 comment is coming from, especially because of the selection of drafts you get. The bartenders are extremely knowledgeable and the bottle list is solid, especially if they keep Cantillon stocked. It's a smaller inside space than most places, but they do have an outdoor garden complete with handmade tables (by the owners and their bartenders, btw) that will have heat lamps in colder weather.

As someone who hated taking the train out to Queens to experience this depth of a tap list outside of Blind Tiger, it's a welcome addition to the neighborhood. Oh yeah - I live in the 20s and will go 20 minutes our of my way to drink there.

I don't mind $10 for those then. They don't get distributed outside of a handful of bars on the West Coast and down in Philly. Plus I'm sure those were sixtels, not even full kegs. I hope you give this place another try. They get a lot of different brews that we would otherwise only be able to taste via trade or going to the home markets of those breweries.

And no, I don't work for them in any way. I just really appreciate when a bar or bottle shop actually "gets it" when it comes to beer.

I wonder who they know, and how much "grease" they need to use, to so openly advertise they do grey market.
