I go to the Czech Republic a couple times of year and this brings me great joy every time. I walk into a proper pub give the tap man a simple nod and he pours me a perfect 1/2 pint of pillowy soft unfiltered and unpasteurized Pilsner Urquell from a 500 liter tank. On those days it is great to be alive.

    • How the taste of Weihenstephaner Hefe Weissbier reminds me of sampling bread dough when I was a kid.
    • The Snorkel beer glass which I WILL eventually get my hands on, but then will be afraid to use! Those are a work of art.
    • And cool beer glasses in general.
    • Comments on the bottom of Fidy cans.
    • The hunt; for the perfect stout, for the perfect Pumpkin beer, and for whalez. I enjoy the hunt as much as drinking them.
    • Learning about beer from BA and you folks!
    • Making my family question my sanity by taking a picture of every beer I drink, and posting them.
    • Trying new beers styles from different places. Only 35 states and 79 styles to go!
    • Having too many new beers on hand to limit them to New Beer Sunday, so having to declare new beer Monday, Tuesday...
    • Wondering if utopiajane ever sleeps, based on her middle-of-the-night postings.
    • An opportunity to use bulleted lists - I am an Engineer and Engineers love bulleted lists.

I love quoting folks and using their quote to jump start my own conversations

I would have never picked that particular "love" out, but thank you for making me remember how pleasant this is!

Our "steal the glass" nights at Capital Ale House here in the RIC gave me a chance to create quite frankly, a nasty collection of glasses. I need to take more time to mix them into my rotations and achieve the beer + glass harmony more often!

I often place too much emphasis on the quality of lacing. If I have a massive sticky curtain, I somehow believe that this beer is high quality!

Some of my best work has been in the sardonic arts. Unfortunately I elicit a far more offended response than intended. Folks seem so very touchy these days. A cheeky chap such as myself must sometimes curb my "A+" materiel.

NBS has become something of an addiction to me, insofar as making habit the effort to participate.

I plan every trip over 50 miles around beer buying opportunities. Vacations, business trips, hockey tournaments, doesn't matter.

So some original thoughts on what I love?

The perfect medley of banana and clove in a well crafted hefe

    Beer mail!

Enjoying other people's music selections on WBAYDN.

Visiting a brewpub when there's few people or nobody in the place. Just sitting, absorbing the location, taking my time and chatting up the folks there

Getting overwhelmed by subtle complexities in a terrific RIS. Not a BA'd RIS - just an RIS. Take Old Rasputin for instance. This thing has so many tastes swirling around, but no single one is dominant. You can contemplate every swig and get a slightly different impression.

Like @cavedave I love when you open a beer and the aroma fills the room. I also love when I find great beer in places where I wouldn't expect it, hotel bars, airport bars, gas stations, etc.

    1. Just sitting there and admiring your latest beer haul in all its glory once you've arrived home with it

    2. Basking in a beer with an incredible aroma

    3. When you get that perfect shot for Untappd/Instagram/NBS/WBAYDN

    4. Feeling like you do on Christmas morning when you get the alert that your beer mail had arrived or you see the UPS/ Fed Ex truck pull up the driveway

    5. Finally trying that beer/brewery that you've had your eye on for a while

    6. Taking a road trip for the sole purpose of trying some good ass beers

    7. The appreciation people have when you share beers with them that they've been wanting to try

There's way more but I'm gonna stop here

I love when you pour a beer into a snifter glass and it looks and smells amazing...then you lift it to your lips and it tastes even better than it looked. Now I'm thirsty!

I'm with @cavedave on the first one.
    • that fresh citrusy, fruity aroma from a truly sublime NE IPA or IIPA.
    • The first beer of the year on my back patio/deck, and every one after that until winter takes it away.
    • drinking beers with people who like beer, and talking about them, comparing and discussing
    • drinking beers with people who like beer but don't like talking about beers, and who just drink them and play darts
    • Flamingo Friday beers, and Wednesday horseshoe night beers
    • Sharing a beer with someone who hasn't had it, and seeing their reaction

I love the anticipation during the drive to the bottle shop and discovering what they have when I get there.

I love strong citrus smells coming off a bottle the minute I open it.

I love spending time on Sunday nights deciding what I'm going to put in my fridge for the week.

I love reading BA and talking about beer.

    I love trying new beers.

I love recommending and giving great beer to people who are not "into" beer and watching their reaction when they love it.

Waking up in the morning. No, that's not profound but not trite either because at a certain age the alternative is a possibility.
