I haven't heard much about The Livery lately but for awhile there was a good amount of hype around it. Its a bit of a drive but I plan to make the trip soon and hopefully find a few beers I enjoy enough to pick up some growlers/bottles. Not all their beers on tap are even listed in their beer list as far as I can tell. Anyone from the area want to suggest something either on tap now or coming soon?
I would love to sit there all evening and try all the beers I can since I will hardly ever make it out that way, but I do have to drive back to Chicago!
So long as it's not Labor Day and they don't bother to update their blog about the decision to be closed. Who's bitter? I'm not bitter...
The people at The Livery are great, the locals are some of the best too. On tap right now I really like Steep Canyon but feel Steel Wheels is the best which is listed. Like Frank said, show up and enjoy. If they have specialty beers or something on hand pull you're in for a treat. There is a reason I love the place, show up and hopefully you will see why.
I went there a couple weeks ago, and they had nothing special on tap and no bottles for sale, but I still had a good time. The bartender was really cool, and there was an art fest happening right behind it that was worth a look. Out of the beers that I tried, they didn't really impress me, but I could see how it could be a great local spot to hang out.
I was actually just there yesterday! I was headed up to Saugatuk for the weekend and stopped on the way. I did a flight and I most-enjoyed the oatmeal stout and their rye IPA. Even though its not something if want to drink a few of, I really appreciated the balance of their ginger peach ale - quite tasty! The best part though, was the bartender, Mikey G. I've never met anyone so congenial, inviting, and hospitable. He absolutely made the stop well-worth it. Very cool hole-in-the-wall feel to the place and they had some great beers. Nothing bottled, but they offered growlers to go and had a few shirt options. I'd definitely go back again.
