So jelly of that looooooooooooooon. And one of htese days I'll get to try modus hoperandi, I love the concept of Ska Brewing. (paraphrased from the Brew Dogs episode hosted there) "We listen to ska music while we brew because one time when homebrewing we didn't, and the beer sucked"

So after a stop at Founders on the way home I am finally able to post pics of the haul. Founders had an experimental Headless Harvest IPA on tap that was damn good. I also picked up a new glass. ( pics to follow) there were only a couple bittles that had dates on them.

I just cracked open the growler of Overhead and it seems well carbonated.

I mean, I guess I've just gotten spoiled over the last couple months, but I feel a little bad about the age on those that had dates. On the plus side, that growler seems to have held up pretty well! Lots of carb left in that thing, how is it though, still fresh tasting?

no worries on the SBJ date bc thats a porter, the June ones are pushing it, but isnt 90 days the 'kosher' cut-off for freshness? The Swami's isn't cool in my book. Are we thinking make up box time? I also think @Tee2Grn is forever marked as a 'must destroy porch' target going forward.

I've never had Overhead before so it's hard to say. Considering its a DIPA it really isn't that hop forward. Not sure if this is what is to be expected or if the hops have faded. Almost seems a bit syrupy.

I think 90 days is the cutoff. Obviously we would all like IPAs bottled as fresh as possible but within three months seems to still keep the beer as it's to be intended flavor wise.

@Tee2Grn -- let us know how the Lunch is -- in my experience, Maine stuff is amazing, but pretty age-sensitive. You'll be getting more Monday anyway.

I will plan on having the Lunch tomorrow. The previous things I have had from MBC have been fantastic so I am hoping the Lunch is just as good. I'm was going to have the Lunch tonight but the Double Trouble I picked up from Founders today was calling my name. Plus it was bottled last week. You guys are to kind with your consolation boxes. As I have said many times before, there are so many good people on BA and especially in this group.

IMO, that Cucumber is only a saison because of the yeast strain they used, otherwise it's a "cucumber beer" (not saying this is bad, just the only legit adjective) ... WOJA is so good but honestly nothing like the base beer, the oak changes it so much, and in a great way. Moon Man is also great, nothing knock your socks off hop wise, but a flawless APA. Just my .02

ps - If you've never had anything from New Glarus, their 'shelf' beers (moon man, spotted cow, etc) are all very nice, but it's the fruit beers that really define them, set up a trade (I recommend trying in here before FT:ISO) for some Serendipity, Wisconsin Belgian Red, Strawberry Rhubarb, or Raspberry Tart. They're all pretty easily obtainable in WI and only about $10, so a $4$ trade for some locals should be easy enough to set up.

pps- LOL my 'ps' was longer than my original comment.

Thanks for your .02. Its always nice to hear others opinions on beer. I have 2 of the 4 fruit beers listed in my wants and I will add the others on your advise. I have never tried to trade for them but if anyone out there is willing I am able. Send me a message in what you are looking for in return.
