Perrenial does lotteries for their BA stuff

 

I'd think some age would be less detrimental on the barrel aged versions since a bit of spice/adjunct flavor falling off might not be as noticeable with the barrel presence, and barrel character typically does not fall off like adjuncts do.

The beer will definitely be different after some time just like the non-BA versions, but instead of just "less flavor overall" you'll have the balance shift from adjunct toward barrel, which is a matter of personal preference.

14 was still quite good a couple of months ago, but with the exception of DBH them spiced stouts are definitely better fresh

Am I the only one who likes Abraxas least of the Big 3? Maybe I need to try it out of a bottle because both times I had it, on draft, I thought it was good but not the same as Mexican Cake or Huna. Just my $.02.

Btw, work sucks. I wish I could just drink and read this thread all day and get paid for it.

 

For me....Abraxas -> Huna -> Mexican Cake....I think Cake was the thinnest of the bunch and the most chili forward/dominant. I don't hate any of the three for the record.

 

I can see what you say about the thinness and thus a little more heat. Drank a 2013 not long ago and it was pretty hot but not overwhelming. And agreed, all great beers.

 

Huna >= MC > Abraxas

 

When does Cake come out? It seems to be the easiest to get of the three? Never had any of them.

 

I know not the Big 3 and coffee vs cinnamon but where would you put bomb in all this?

 

I'm thinking this is me, since the clues narrow it down to 3 people and I figure not everybody applies every round...

 

I think Cake should be coming out pretty soon now. Normally a mid-May release.
