Not very challenging, but if that's all it takes to get you out of bed in the morning, go for it.

Yes it's 1 tick per container. I make exceptions on 32 oz, 64 oz growlers being they're not designed for single consumption.

I care very little about anything other than unique ticks. because of that, no, I don't even untappd bro. I keep my ticks on here, and even then i miss them occasionally.

Ticking twice out of the same bottle though seems strange. Let me guess, you earn some sort of points/badges/status for more ticks?

Sure, easier (especially if you suggested that 2800 check-ins ago) but wouldn't do me much good when looking at the line graph on the site.

No, actually not. I really just do it for the tracking.

what are you tracking? your consumption? doesn't that fall in the realm of "don't ask questions you don't want answers to"? (a la what was my FedEx bill in 2014? or how many calories was in that double coronary burger?)

It does, but at the same time I need to look at the answer to that every so often, at least from a detached "data" perspective, but if I come up with an upward trend or overall higher number than I want to see, I know I need to rein it in a bit. Not to get preachy or anything, but since our shared hobby happens to center around something that can cause pretty serious problems, I like to keep an eye on it.

To each HIS (F you @Houser) own. I usually gauge my consumption based upon the cottonmouth, headache and longing for bojangles in the morning.

You're kidding right? If anyone really did that and took the health concerns seriously (short term and long term).............we wouldn't be drinking much at all. No offense meant but I think you are kidding yourself.

More to that point, if you seriously wanted to gauge it would not be from an smartphone app. If you want to take your health seriously you should be documenting each pour size including shares and festivals in a spreadsheet and analyzing the data NOT pretending that a smartphone can do that for you. Again my statement only holds true if your real reasoning is health because that is obviously a serious concern we all have.

Not so much "health concerns" as "alcoholism concerns" ... I know it's not healthy, but I keep a general eye on it to make sure I'm not drinking too much too consistently.

Big numbers for the occasional share/festival is to be expected and is treated as an outlier; five in one day sometimes isn't a huge deal to me, and and neither is two everyday, but five every single day? That'd cause me to take a step back. I don't pretend that the data I'm getting is scientific in any way, just indicative of a behavior trend.

I'll end my statements with alcoholism is a health concern. You do you man and whatever veil makes it seem like you've got in control than that's great. If it becomes a point though where you're dissecting stuff to say you're not an alcoholic than it may be time to take a step back. I mean this as friendly as possible but reach out to any of us in LOCALS or SWTFYW. I know that SWTFYW cares about its members and it's very evident that the LOCALS do too.

Yeah I was hoping not to take it there... :flushed:

I appreciate the offer, and you're right, both groups definitely care deeply about their members.

I will say that I didn't "get to a point of doing that", I started with that point. It's no secret that I'm analytical to a fault, and I don't do it as a 'justification', I do it as a method of self-monitoring, which is a distinction I think is worth making.

There was a pretty interesting thread in Beer Talk a little while back that I participated in on this (general) topic, in which I went into a bit more detail on my thoughts, as did some others. Worth a read for anyone who's interested: http://www.beeradvocate.com/communi...-alcoholic-or-is-this-normal-behavior.257758/

    Sorry :slight_frown:

I literally liked this twice, once for each section as I was reading it but then realized it negated my like. I'm still exhausted.
