I will continue wearing shorts until the day my work says not to (and since that will never happen...)

 

I ended up extending my trip, so now will be there until November 2. It's my birthday weekend, so some friends are coming up too, but hopefully we can meet up.

Thank you all for the well-wishes and kind words. Losing a job always sucks but I was fortunate to have some advance notice so I already have a couple irons in the fire and lots of ideas of what else to get working on, but mostly I need to figure out in what direction I want to head; if I want to stay in the same vertical, get the same type of position, etc.

The short term will suck, no doubt about it, but I already am expecting to look back on this as one of those "losing that job was the best thing that ever happened to me" moments.

Sadly it was very sessionable.... Not really sad at all actually, it did a great job of kicking off a happy hour at my place; a buddy from work came over to commiserate my lost job and let me feed him beers for a while:


Every one of these came from a Local (@Greeny87 you'll be official soon enough) or a SWTFYWer (@Beer4B you might be a slacker more than anything, but you count), which is pretty cool.

Deep Ellum Barrel Aged Four Swords - Red Wine barrel aged Quad? Sounds interesting. But not as interesting as
Jester King Vulgar Affectation - As with many JK beers this sounds weird and intriguing and will probably be awesome.
5 Stones Fracking Blackstrap - Have never heard of the beer or the brewer, but an Imperial Stout with molasses, cocoa nibs, and vanilla definitely has me interested.
Modern Times Mega Black House - Love the original, looks very tasty
Franklin's Texas Style Barbecue Sauce - I think I'm actually more excited for this than anything else in the box.

18th Street Devil's Conclave - Have only had one beer from them and it was delicious, looking forward to this
Harviestoun Ola Dubh aged in 16-year-old barrels - I had a one-off version of this beer and it was delicious, looking fowrard to this one.
North Coast Old Stock Ale Otsuchi 2012 - I loved the Bourbon and Brandy versions of this beer, but have zero clue wtf this is, care to shed some light on it, Nick?
Three Floyds teku - Very nice looking teku from FFF, cool metallic rim too.
