The Long Overdue "THANK YOU FITZ!" Thread

    I don't usually get up on soapboxes and sing the praises of other people on BA, but I think a @BeerMeFitz appreciation post needs to happen. I can't think of a single person I know who embodies the good qualities of craft beer more than Fitz.

    Yes he gives away an obscene amount of beer away for free, and that's really cool. But that's just the icing on the triple-layer BCS infused cake. I can't think of a single time I was at a beer share that Fitz DIDN'T stay behind to help clean up. And by help I mean usually doing most of it himself without needing to be asked. What does he ask for in return? Nothing. Ever.

    He helps small brewers in the same way. You need someone to tape together boxes? Label bottles? Mop? Provide moral support at your court date? Fitz is your man. In fact, he'll just show up and DO IT. What is he expecting out of it? Nothing.

    I still remember the first time I met Fitz. I was in a Binny's and we just started talking about beer. I was struck by the fact the he didn't know a huge amount about beer - and that excited him! He didn't pretend to be Captain Ahab the whale slayer....He just knew he loved beer and wanted to love it even more.

    You're the man, Fitz. Chicago beer culture is better for having you be part of it.

    Very cool to hear/know we have somebody as upstanding as this in our local craft beer scene. Even cooler that he has had enough of an impact on a VERY NICE store that the place has recognized him for his help.
    It would be one thing to be recognized by Joe Schmo, but to be recognized by such a mover in the local beer scene(BT), that is an accomplishment and tells me he is obviously doing the scene quite well.

    agreed, fitz is definitely the man and the walking definition of what beer advocacy should be

    @quinnsi could not have put it any better. @BeerMeFitz is one hell of a standup guy and extremely generous. It's all about the love of the beer with Fitz and being able to share with everyone.Thanks Fitz!

    Kind of an interesting thread, but I will jump on the Fitz appreciation. He randomly gave me a Heady Topper (shared it and made two people happy:slight_smile:) and we hadn't even met.

    I was in Chicago a while back and it happened to be at the craft beer temples grand opening. I forgot exactly how this went down but some how on here @BeerMeFitz saw I was looking to try zombie dust and he messaged me asking if we could meet up so he could just give me some. It didn't end up working out but just the fact that he took the time to offer something like that was amazing.

    Fitz is one of the nicest guy in Chicago, and one of the rare people in the beer scene it is impossible to dislike.

    Fitz is the man. He's the type of guy who has your back. The craft beer community is lucky to have him. End of story.

    I saw Fitz at FOBAB yesterday and he expressed a lot of thanks to everyone. He's touched that this thread has stuck around so long...It means a lot to him that people keep bumping it!
