http://www.maltshoppetosa.com How am I just hearing about this now?! Does anyone have any insight? I literally live 1/2 away, this could be trouble...
Competition is a good thing! There's no stopping Rays and I'm sure this place will be successful as well.
Really early to put up a tap list for a 10/24 grand opening? Are they in soft open mode now? I'd happily drive over to Tosa to try the Noble Star release. Although I think I saw that Three Cellars has/had it on as well.
And- Draft & Vessel is now open in Shorewood. Was very happy to discover a cozy, classy place to grab a great beer up here in Shorewood. Prices are decent, growlers available, but the vibe is great so I think a lot of folks will be soaking up pints in the shop.
“Like so many others, I learned to love beer in college. I’ve since learned to appreciate beer and its subtle nuisances more and more as the years pass..." Ha! From their grand opening press release.
I just stopped in there this morning at around 10:15, and it was already packed. Incredible selection of both taps and bottles, I highly recommend checking it out!
Walked over a hour ago or so. I have wayyyy too much beer at home so just went to check things out. The thing that impressed me was the amount of taps. They also have 16oz growler fills which is cool. You can buy singles of all the beers the have on the shelf. I'm assuming they are getting a better sign outside. Overall nicely done. I'll be back to stock up at some point.
I visited Friday earlier in the day. I'm into German beers, and I was impressed with their selection of 'em. They had beers arranged by style, so not all of a given brewery's beers were on the same shelf. I'm not used to that. They offered to let you sample from their tap lineup, which is cool. The place seemed a little dark....but beer doesn't like light so no big deal. Great selection. This will be my new beer store. Definitely a place to recommended to visitors as well. Good luck to the owners!
That's so odd that it is arranged by style...I've never seen that before actually. I'll definitely check it out...For those that went how was the selection compared to other near by places? Ray's, Discount, etc? Is this a store you would go to over others?
They have a big selection since the entire store is just beer. I would say they don't have the variety of rare or hard to get stuff like Rays or Discount. I would go here over them just because of the location but mainly for growler fills. If I'm looking for something new or exciting I would still hit Rays or Discount.
Sure thing. Thank you. I'll still like to check out the place...16oz growlers would be nice to just try something new to go without much of an investment.
Really enjoy being able to buy singles of any beer they have on the shelf!! Sometimes I just want to try something out before spending 10+$ on a 4/6 pack!
A lot of the "rare or hard to get stuff" is allocated by the distributor based on sales. Once we've got a couple months under our belts, we'll be able to get the same stuff, in quantity, as everyone else. Until then, we'll limp by with just one or two cases of whatever we can get our hands on.
