The Mechanics of Adding Notes to a Beer

Only @Todd can fully answer this question but it does not create a lot of extra work for the Moderators and prevents bad actors (bots and whatnot) from adding beers and including malicious links.

Also, I can attest after being a Moderator/Site Editor for almost 10 years that I have had to verify/clean up many suggested Notes suppplied by users.

 

The ability to add notes to a beer was removed ages ago due to the fact that we had way too many users submitting their review of the beer (or other comments) as the notes despite explicitly stating the intentions of the field on the form page.

 

Update: As noted in a recent thread, the ability to add notes (description and other info from the brewer) when adding a beer will soon be extended to certain members; probably Pooh-Bahs and Society to begin with.

 

Seems like a good idea to start (and maybe end) with the people who have a longer relationship with BA. Also important that notes should only be included when adding a new beer-- otherwise people can use the current system and submit notes at any time for approval.
