Currently live somewhere with zero good stores for craft without driving a ways. BUT, a local grocery store has mix-6 for 7.99 and puts singles of every beer they offer in that case. So all of the year round DFH, Stone, and Firestone Walker I want for $8 a six makes me happy.

I never mix 6. Once they're split any age control is long gone, especially with hoppy beers. No way any beer place can keep track of singles when sixers on the shelves are a handful in and by themselves.

yeah, I know Julio's. Its a bit of a drive for me, so I don't go often. But when I save up serious cash, that is a trip I make a couple times a year.

I recently found a place near my house that does singles pricing. If the 6 pack was $10.99 the single would be priced at $1.99 so a $.16 markup per beer. Are the single pricing in your areas better or worse?

Most places I visit don't break apart their 4/6 packs which is a shame because I like to sample one bottle to see if I like a particular beer or not.

I did recently find a nice bottle shop not too far from me, Sunset Beer Co., in Echo Park that sells singles.

This is why I go to Total Wine. I wish I could support other stores (and usually do when I know what I want in 4/6 packs) but the closest store near me has a "limited" mix 6 selection (stupid) and the other store down the road from Total Wine that is better and local doesn't sell singles.

Next week I wanted to get a mix 6 of Oktoberfests and a mix 6 of Pumpkin beers. I don't really want to but I'll be going to Total Wine.

The biggest flaw of the Mix a Six is that you have to check the dates on each bottle. Its time consuming and a pain in the butt. A lot of times you either cant find a date or its smudged/hard to read and you end up putting the beer back because of that. If every beer on the shelf was fresh or not expired it would be the best thing in the world but we know thats not possible. Today I picked up a Victory IPA and it said it expired late next month and I really wanted something fresher but I just went with it and took the risk. Didnt feel like going through every damn bottle.

All my local stores have abysmal selections in the mix six section. I would love to be able to grab any single and try something without committing to a $10+ six pack .

Can you give me store names? I live right up in that area.

I've always liked the idea of mixed six-packs, but have never actually gotten one. I often bring leftover bottles from 6-packs to parties. They're never bad beers so I figure someone else might get to enjoy them.

Yup. In Nashua, the store is called "The Beer Store" (not a lot of confusion there).
    In Billerica, Giorgio's Liquors.
