I remember MGD being pretty drinkable, and had it's place in my fridge a time or two. But, Michelob? My friend, "weekends were made for Michelob".

Bullshit. While the brewers certainly have the technical ability to brew just about anything well, a great IPA wouldn't make it through their focus groups to actually make it to market without being dumbed down.

I'm going to disagree. Blue Moon isn't my favorite style, but it's not bad. Frankly I think it's closer to Allagash White than the scores indicate. I've had ~4 BM seasonal flavors though and they've all been terrible.

This is what I don't understand about the modern beer culture---
(and your post, "creepinjeeper", is just the latest example of numerous ones I've read - not pickin' on you in particular )
---this impulse to "hunt" rather than simply "order".

For over 40 years now, if I wanted a common, year-round beer like this one, a product of the largest brewery in the country with a wholesale network that delivers to, if not every, certainly the vast majority of retailers, I just went to my local liquor store and said:

"Hey, Marty, order me a case of Michelob next time the AB guy comes in..."
"Sure, Jess - you got it. Writing myself a note now..."
"You want a deposit or anything?"
    "Nah..."

I remember trying Bud E (Extra? Energy?) back in college. The original Four Loko, caffeinated bud light that tasted like red bull.

That's erroneous. Even if it did, it would flop. When was the last time you drank a Miller, Bud, or Coors beer outside of craft buy outs like GI when you had other options?

Rogue banana and chocolate, though another one came out so maybe not a failure but I know it doesn't get a lot of love from most people I've talked too.

Zima lasted for over 20 years - it was still being brewed, under contract at City/LaCrosse at the end, until around 2007-8 IIRC. It may ultimately have been a bomb, but it sizzled under the radar for a long time...

Not feeling picked on at all. I honestly didn't know I could do that. While I only wanted, at the most, a twelve; a case is quite doable. I'll remember that next time I stop in at my favorite local shop. Thanks, as always, for the information.

From AB, Bud American Ale. Supposedly an answer to Sierra Nevada, and not a real answer.
Miller Coors, Third Shift by "Band of Brewers". Drinkable, but more of an updated Killian's than craft.

Mitch Steele wrote about developing a west coast IPA during his time at AB. He was quite proud of the results and even took it to a beer festival or two. It got the go ahead for production, and the end product was called "Demon's Hop Yard", and it was a mere shadow of his team's original IPA. My point being, AB has the talent to brew good beer, but the management doesn't have the balls to release it.

Yeah, I knew it was around a long time. My post was more of a joke. But I'm glad it brought you out to drop knowledge on us:slight_smile: Thank you by the way for your continued contributions to this site. Your posts are always informative and appreciated and you are an asset to this site and the beer community. (Sorry so long, sometimes I feel like my "likes" are just not enough.)

Anyone remember B to the E? It was Bud's attempt to combine their beer with an energy drink.

Michelob Amber Bock was drinkable enough. I haven't had any in many years, though, so maybe it's no longer average/mediocre?

Bus Lime Lime sucks. But it sells very well. Therefore it's a success. Cheers!

Had it very recently and it was very drinkable. Didnt have to choke it down at all like I had to do with Dos Equis.

I see this all of the time, instead of Original. Could be a tempting substitute.

A restaurant I worked at had the Michelob Winter's Bourbon Cask Ale on tap one winter. I kind of liked it. This was almost ten years ago. Has anyone seen it lately? I kind of would like to re-visit it if they are still making it.
