You cannot argue that BMC products are well crafted for the volume of production in the numerous production sites the product taste the same day after day.
    *taste and complexity is debatable.

FWIW, I personally do not associate production consistency with the term “well crafted”. There is no doubt that the process control exhibited by the BMC breweries is excellent but IMO the term “well crafted” also includes the sensory qualities of the product (beer) as well.

To use a food analogy, Hormel consistently produces their canned Chili but I would never associate the term of “well crafted” as regards Hormel Chili.

    Cheers!

Heady Topper has never tasted anything less than mind-blowing for me, palate shift aside. Honorable mention to Rochefort 10.

Right on!! I challenge anyone to name another brewmaster that could even compete at the level of quality and variety that Dan Carey produces. The next closest in my mind is Brewmaster Mike from Toppling Goliath.

The one that stood out for me last year was New Glarus Yokel. I'm not a fan of lagers and I never had a kellerbier before this one. It was perfect in every way, really crisp and quenched the thirst in the summertime. It was the first time in a number of years that it was made and hopefully won't have to wait that long to drink it again.

It always seemed to me that Pliny is well crafted.

Also New Glarus Wild Sour struck me as well crafted.

well under the original post qualifications of:
BMC may not be what some call complex or best tasting (personally i rarely consume those products due to better tasting offerings) but their products are consistent.

No disagreement from me wrt "consistent". BMC beers just are not well crafted IMO.

    Cheers!

I honestly don't know how I could justify one great beer over another. To me this is an unanswerable question. It's easier to think of ones that are inconsistent or have changed over the years.

I find the question somewhat confusing.

Any beer that has the flavor profile the brewer intended is well made.

    In other words, your favorite?

I have found all the beers (at least the ones I have had) from Goose Island, Bells and Dogfish Head to be consistent. Those brewers represent the majority of my beer purchases. As far as complexity goes, a number of selections come to mind but I would give the gold medal to DFH Indian Brown Ale, the silver to Goose Island The Ogden and the bronze to Bells Two Hearted.

I am not going to respond with a particular beer or brand, instead I am going to respond philosophically to the question and the responses posted so far.
Batch to batch consistency is hard, and in a way, that is a craft, but maybe more so a science, (an industrial science). On the other hand, we may enjoy or dislike a particular beer, but not know what the brewer's intention was. I think the best crafted beer may be a repeating production run, but more likely a one-off that exactly hit results that brewer intended (whether we like it or not).

Tough to narrow down but a few that come to mind:
Pliny- the most balanced west coast IPA EVER
    Weihenstephaner Hefe- perfect every time
HF Everett- no porter comes close
    FBS- perfect

Cannot agree at all. PU is not at all consistent, it has been destroyed over the years of time and is more and more watered-down.
I guess Budvar Budejovicky woulkd be a better choice in that genre.

Peronally I thin that it is super hard to say more crafted than others I mean it is quite hard to not say Brooklyn Lager or Boston lager, as well as Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, more or less every German lager but I would have to go with:

    Firestone Walker Double Jack

The perfect opportunity to once again profess my unflinching devotion to Upright Engelberg Pilsner. If you can make an excellent pilsner, not an insanely hopped up thing to cover up mistakes, hell I could probably do that, then you've got skills!

There's literally nothing I would do to that beer.

Hill Farmstead's stuff is, in my estimation, almost always extremely well put together. They have absolutely world class IPAs, Porters, Saisons, Barleywine, Wild Ales...
