Looks like Chapman Crafted Beer has been going through a soft opening, anyone had a chance to try them yet?

 

I must've just missed it. I was there at 12 and didn't see any. However, I did pick up a twelver of "12th of Never". Currently drinking it by the pool, and it's fantastic! Especially at $15.99

 

Chapman Crafted? Yep, I was just there today at lunch. 8 beer on tap, all solid! My fave was an excellent IPA called My Two Dollars. They had a coffee red ale called Slow Riser on nitro that resembled Naughty Sauce. Space is spartan-like ... But you go there for the quality of the beer & not to impress some chick in hopes of getting laid. Tasters were $1.50 to $3. Full pours $6. 64 and 32 ounce growlers. Only filling there own. 8 high top tables seats 4 each. Parking will be a bitch in prime time ... Careful not to park on permit only streets. Overall come here for the high quality kick ass beer.

 

I think you were too early. I was there around 12:40 and there were six cases stacked in the walkin with only two open and still mostly full. Written on the boxes was a 2/pp limit.

 

I think I heard the owner of haven started this place, anyone know if that's true?

 

Yeah it's all documented very well in the latest Beer Paper LA ... Haven owner plus the former brewer from Drakes (and other places) who created Aroma Coma - dude's resume is legit & he gets great buzz as a high quality brewer.

Hmm... Not able to get to FWVB this weekend. Do you know, will that be the limit going forward, or just opening weekend.

 

I'm not sure. I only know it was limit 4 on Saturday.

I did read elsewhere that it will also see limited distribution in the coming weeks. So I would expect to see it show up in bottle shops around town.

 

The four limit was also the same at Barrelworks so I think you're safe?

 

I had my 2015 last week, and thought it was great. Lots of caramel, and barrel. I have never had it fresh, so I can't make any comparison's there. I'll be on the look out for the 2016... Any sightings other than FWVB?

Stopped in to Chapman Crafted tonight and sampled four hoppy beers which ranged from good to great. The spot is small and tucked away with seating for about 25. I imagine the $6 12oz pours, even for the lower ABV stuff, was Haven's idea. I think the college crowd will keep this place busy and I look forward to stopping in occasionally to see what they are up to.
