I'm heading to Alpine on Thursday for bottles. Let me dig through all my growlers and see how many ABC growlers I got. I do want to keep a few just incase they (GF) ever get their shit together. And hopefully Alpine will continue to brew their special releases at Alpine.

 

btw, Beachwood's Amalgamator saw distro in Long Beach today. Should be making its way around

Had Amalgamator a month or so ago (non bottle release) and I thought is was good, not great like it use to be. And Amalgamator is my favorite BW beer. CitraHolic was sick. Got the last batch in a growler and let it sit for 2 weeks. Man that was freaking the best CitraHolic I had. I picked up 3 bottles of Amagamator today. Hope the bottles are better than the last batch.

 

Same here.. Had Amalgamator couple weeks ago .. All I was thinking bout was getting the nachos tho .. I flaked - got the mushrooms

Sad to hear reports that Amalgam isn't what it used to be.. my fav IPA from them last year.

 

So what's the verdict on the current batch of bottles?

 

Pretty damn great. Had it on draft at Bruery's event and a couple pints yesterday at the source. Very dry...more so than Laurel and Falco which are also on right now. I wasn't a fan of the last batch as much as this one.

 

I think Lite Brite might be my new favorite - that last batch was superb.

 

This batch is outstanding.

 

The recent bottle release was fantastic

 

I think they'll be pouring the Amalgamatorat a few others at FW Invitational

 

Don't want to keep doing this to everyone but Framboos was at Hi-Time in Costa Mesa, just one case. No I wasn't able to get one. Yes they're all gone.

 

Not a Cali beer, but on the way back from Alpine/Societe yesterday I stopped at Texas Wine & Spirits in Carlsbad (looking for Left Hand Milk Stout on Nitro) and came across this

Now I've read about this here on BA and seen it come up on Instagram. I know somebody on the east coast who I trade with that can get this. But when I saw it at Texas Liquor yesterday I was going to buy it. But it was $19 for a bomber!! I'm not going to spend 20 on something I never tasted before. But I have been seeing alot hits on this one here on BA. I think I will wait and trade for this one. Has anybody here had this yet or seen this elsewhere for sale? I don't think its distro'd out here. One other note on Texas Liquor they do carry some Evil Twin beers. Thats good to know.
And no I did not see any Left Hand beers there.

 

I've seen that beer pop up at a couple places around here in OC... I don't get the brewery's pricing on their beers. Have yet to try a single one.

 

I asked my trade guy and he said in the Brooklyn area it's around $15. So maybe the $19 something price is right for California. But damn thats freaking high for an ipa. I'd rather trade for All Everything Green 4 packs at $20. Wonder how much it is at the brewery on in Kentucky?
