The OFFICIAL Kuhnhenn Winter Solstice thread

Although it did run out at the party they did keep bottling it and it was available for some time after the solstice. My memory of the exact dates is a bit foggy but I do know for certain I got some a couple times at later dates.

 

Yes, a month or so later, but that was not much comfort for people who traveled for the event. There were lots of people pissed they released more later after they got shut out at the party.

My point is, don't assume anything with Kuhnhenn as far as availability based on previous experiences. I have been going to the winter solstice for 6 or so years, and every year has been different.

 

This so hard.

 

Last year BB4D ran out early the same day, but they had a bunch that they hadn't bottled. It was on draft into Feb. and bottles were available for quite a while after the party, they just didn't have them until weeks after.
It will depend a lot on how much they decide to bottle for the release and what the limits are.

Last year they had BB Solar Eclipse, American Imperial Stout among others for weeks after the Solstice. BB4D was bottled a few times last year. You may not get everything you want but you should be able to get something.

Then again, with Kuhnhenns, who knows.

 

Had an opportunity to try this and it's very good.

 

How does it compare to DRIPA?

 

The allocations were way too high for the amount of BB4D - half a case per person but only the first 60 or so people got bottles. They really should have made it a 4-pack limit or something.

 

A couple line jumpers really pissed us off too. Luckily I had the line police with me, too bad the jumpers didn't move.

 

I'm hoping some Eisbocks get released. Looks like there were some last year.

 

The eisbocks were released at a later date, not at Winter Solstice.

 

Looking forward to having a BBBW on X-mas eve!

 

Any thoughts or guesses as to tap list? Especially Friday night...?

 

If I remember correctly, the first few dozen people in line were offered the chance to buy a vintage raspberry eisbock (187ml). I'll stand corrected if this is not an accurate statement.

Just read this page. No hype train, just me remembering reading this last year.

Edit: The bottles weren't offered, I will stand corrected on that but they were sold.

 

I was 60-something(th) in line. No raspberry eisbock for anyone. It was still in tanks then, which I have pictures of (the tanks, that is).

 

I hear the first 5 people in line this year get a free bottle of blueberry eisbock.
