Anybody have any really old Westvleterens? I have seen some old bottles that are green bulbous shaped glass with a metal cork lined cap. Anyone see anything like that before of have any info on older Westvleterens or older Westmalles?

I'm willing to bet Brabander is pretty much this site's authority on the subject...

Courtesy of a phenomenal BA, I have a 1955 Westmalle Bruin (w/blue cap). Bottle is similar to ones currently used by Westvleteren (with Trappisten neck ring), but also has "Abdij Westmalle" in raised lettering on the body of the bottle.

I've got a ~1979 Westvleteren 8 in my collection. It's actually called St Sixtus Prior (the vintage 12 is called St Sixtus ABT). Both were contract brewed by St Bernardus at the time, and I've tried several bottles from 1979-1989ish.

I don't really recommend the old ones all that much though, these don't age well like gueuze.
