Back in the day when I drank only lager - and lots of it - someone offered me a BrewDog Sink The Bismarck! for AU$75. They're now out of production, and the last price I saw it for was AU$210. Feel like a bit of a doofus.

Years ago I noticed and walked past a floor stack of cases of the first release of Bourbon County Coffee Style Stout , not really aware of what it was, and didn't buy any - I looked it up on BA after I got home and realized my mistake - when I went back the next day they were all gone - the same store also had a shelf full of Cantillon offerings that I neglected at the time -

Had a chance to try Pliny The Younger a couple of weeks ago but slept in to late. The bar opened at 10:30 am and it was kicked by 11:00 am.

Nope learned long ago, its just beer. If its really good it will come back. Otherwise most of this "beer" is a sucker bet.
hype and rare wise, and money always changes it for me. Price it over $4 a bottle (330ml) and watch me just pass it by.

ITs rare I even spend that on Rochefort or Orval anymore, they just sit there. In fact Total Wine has so much Rochefort ATM its quite funny.

Had a whole shelf of backyard rye I could have bought. Got 2 not knowing how much I'd LOVE it. Should have bought 5 or 6

Soooo about two years ago when I was first getting into craft beer I walked into Magruders in DC in search of some beer called "Hopslam" that a friend told me I needed to try. It was late and my girlfriend and I were the only customers at the time. The beer manager quickly noticed my intrigue and walked over to offer some advice. After seeing my fascination with craft beer he started talking about the Bourbon County beers they had just got in. I had heard of these but knew absolutely nothing about them. He said they had gotten in a few cases of a Bourbon County Coffee and a case of the Bourbon County Bramble. After discussing the ingredients of each, he asked me if I was interested in any bottles. I knew I loved coffee so without hesitation I said I'd take one. I then reluctantly agreed to also pay $15.99 for a Bramble solely because my dad loves berries in his beers (I'm trying to fix this) and I wanted to share it with him. Before he walked into the back, he double checked that I only wanted one of each. I told him "yes, 1 is good". AHHHH

I initially turned down cherry rye. I ascribe this to a momentary bout of insanity.

The other was not long ago, didn't realize that angel's share was anything overly important and just literally chose not to buy it because i was looking for be hoppy and i was in a rush...looked it up later and realized im a complete moron since it sat ranked just behind cable car haha.

Went to Craft Beer Cellar a few weeks ago on a Friday night. Grabbed a couple things, and then saw an Evil Twin Even More Jesus on their "last one in stock" table. Went to put something back, and came back to grab the Jesus. Some other dude saw it, and snagged it. I was bummed.

This year we got Black Note for the first time in the area. Two bottle limit. I got to the store, saw it behind the counter (they put one behind the counter of these kinds of releases, so you know to ask for it), walked around the store searching for something else to grab as well. A guy walks in, goes straight to the counter, and buys the last two bottles. Lesson learned!

As my friend says, "the kicker is..." as he walked out the two guys working commented on how they had never seen the guy before...

Me too, local grocery store I think had it for $150 (memory could be off) about a year ago. Knowing now it is sold for more made me think I might've missed an opportunity (but it was still $150!). At Extreme Beerfest in March Meadhall had a shot of it for $25. Passed again, after much more debate.

Turns out both were good decisions, as we got to have appx 1/2 a shot at the Extreme Beerfest. It was interesting and we got the tick, but don't think it's worth $150 (despite the time/process that might lead to it).

Was that the brick pack with 2 glasses? I paid $80 - the Abbey set the price at $&0, so they shouldn't have been charging $96 for it...

I have no idea about the Abbey setting a price. All I know is that after this store got rid of them for $96, people were re-selling them on Craiglist for $400-500 a brick. It was crazy.

Yup - Abbey set the price at $80 per brick. I live on LI, and they had none for sale here. Wasn't venturing into NYC just to buy it. So I bought it online from a place I always buy from. They were selling for $80, but made you buy a $50 store gift card if you wanted the brick. I did it - I always shop online with them and knew the $50 GC would be used. I used it about 2 weeks later!

I passed on Cantillion Iris at a bottleshop in Manchester, UK. I picked up a couple of other Cantillion bottles, but I'm still kicking myself for putting that one back.
