I just want to say that the new Sam Adams can is a pure stroke of genius. Not sure how they managed to transform the can experience by what seems like such an insignificant modification, but god damn it worked

    Anyone else impressed ?

O.K. I give. If they produce their other beers in cans I'll buy it.

Yes, SA tastes awesome out of a can. It seems they really nailed this one. Can't wait to try Oktoberfest from the can.

Yep, I love them. Seriously genius. I bought them specifically because they were different.

I tried Octoberfest from the can and I still prefer it in a glass. I think lighter, summer brews work better out of a can. It is a cool can and an improvement though.

I found that the aroma was captured unlike any other can and the cascading uninterrupted flow was very nea.

The design itself seems like a homerun, and I'd love to be able to buy just a single can, as I can't justify buying a whole 12 pack of Boston Lager, or Ofest.

I thought I read that Jim Koch said he would be willing to share the can design with any other brewery that wants it?

Saw them for the first time the other day on a JetBlue flight, very cool can. They were selling lots of them, thanks to an army of very unhappy children.

I love the new cans, especially since I can bring them to the beach and racetrack.

I'll be looking for the Noble Pils in cans. Come to think about it, I can't often find it in bottles...

I wonder why you would think a beer you don't like would taste better. The can doesn't change the beer, it just makes drinking from a can a better experience than other cans.

    Stop walking into walls.

I'm impressed by the strong positive reactions here - so much so that I thought people were just mocking the design at first. Is it really that much better? I guess I'll have to give it a try (though I agree that commiting to a 12-pack of SA is alot with so many other options out there).

It's good that they finally put their beer in cans, but I noticed very little difference between drinking out of the Sam can and a normal can. Just a bit gimmicky imho.

Illegal in a number of states, so wouldn't work for mass production with national distribution.

If they were promoting it based on the can design, yeah, it might be a bit hypocritical of people to praise the can. But the can push is subtle--putting the product in cans for the first time is far more important. And the fact that they are not doing it for competitive advantage seems important too, if the rumors of Koch's wanting to share the design is true. You're overstating the case by more than a bit. Gushing of the can design as the main distinctive feature of the product would indeed be a bit hypocritical, but it's the customers doing the gushing, not the brewer. So what's the problem?
