Damn, I forgot all about Pumking! Dessert beer, if there ever was one.

I can appreciate a beer on the sweeter side, but there's just no sense of balance across the board.

Again, purely my opinion. Just too sweet for me.

I've had the pleasure of trying several of their beers. My favorites were Gemini and Iniquity without a doubt. Not sure if the Pumking was old or what when I had it, but wasn't in my top 5 fav pumpkin beers.

I used to buy a lot more of their stuff,I just kinda grew out of them. When I do endulge in some S.Tier, its usually 2xipa,harvest ale,Oak Aged Unearthly,Iniquity,Gemini, and Pumking.
I had a chance to try Oak Aged Pumking this past year in Philly, and loved it.Hope they do more of that one this year as it was limited and not in my neck of the woods. The rest of their lineup is always available.

    Cheers All.........

I'm very love/hate with Southern Tier. Pumking is their only beer I really look forward to every year, and purchase regularly and in sizable quantities.

I like Oak Aged Unearthly quite a bit, and probably should buy it more regularly, but there are just too many beers out there nowadays.

I'll drink the stouts with dessert, but those are definitely novelty beers.

Their regular 12oz lineup is actually quite boring/subpar.

Bottom line - good brewery that was probably ahead of its time 5 years ago, but has now been surpassed by so much else out there. They could really use a bit of a lineup refresh IMO.

I like to have a single bottle of Pumking and Creme Brulee a year, need em when the craving hits or the season is right, but don't need any more than that. I like Hop Sun for a summer brew though.

I appreciate the inevitable diabetes after having a few sips of Creme Brulee.

I've never had an excellent beer by them, but that's mostly because:
    1) I don't like "east coast" IPAs, which Gemini, 2x, etc all clearly are.
    2) I don't like pumpkin beers.
    3) I don't like cloyingly sweet stouts with nothing else going on.

At a tasting yesterday we had Creme Brulee, and I said, "They did a miraculous job making a beer that actually tastes like the dessert, but it wasn't a good idea." That basically sums up my feeling on them.

Yeah I mean while I found Choklat amazing, it is clearly not a beer you'd drink a ton of.

I've had pumking and thought it was amazing. I've been very underwhelmed by everything else. I will probably make sure I drink one pumking every fall and besides that nothing else. (unless someone offers, only beer I'd turn down is Sam Adams Cran Lambic)

Choklat only tastes like chocolate if you think Hershey's is the gold standard. Awful, awful beer.

I do think Iniquity and Backburner are very good though.

Pretty big fan here. I like their regular IPA and 2xIPA. Their Porter is rarely mentioned in these conversations, but it's really quite good. Iniquity I haven't had in a long time but I recall liking it. Pumking is one of the few pumpkin beers I actually enjoy. Their regular Pale Ale is solid. Hop Sun is one of my go-tos when I want a refreshing summer beer.

Not a huge fan of the stouts (other than Oat) but that's my personal taste - if you like sweet, heavy stouts they certainly deliver. And 422 and Phin&Matt's are nothing special IMHO. Still, overall very positive in my book.

At around 25 for a case of their IPA I converted a friend, so for the price I like the beer. Their lineup isn't anything super special but for a balla on a budget I loved splitting a case of ST with a friend.

I really like Mokah and Jahva. Choklat is great if you're in the mood for it. Creme Brulee... let's just say my drain probably enjoyed it more than I did. I've got an Oat in the beer fridge so can't comment on that. Unearthly is a bit on the malty/heavy side for my taste.

Of the Blackwater series in general, I'd be surprised if there's anyone out there who likes them all. It seems like these ST beers are more on the love/hate side of the spectrum, they seem pretty polarizing. Especially Creme Brulee and Choklat.

There's something to be said about fresh 2XIPA, really.
