The hazy beers have taken hold of me. When I see that haze all I think of is the fruit bomb taste and I salivate. I'm a full blown hazy, "NE" style IPA fanboy, I can't help it.

In summation, I really hope this trend continues in Colorado!

The super juice flavors get one-dimensional after a few sips for me, but I'm obviously in the BA minority with my meh perception of hazy IPAs. (If Trillium and Treehouse have 15 beers or whatever in the BA Top 250, somebody likes them, right?)

After reading others' comments here, however, I'm now wondering if my issue with hazy beers is the mouthfeel. I just don't dig that heavy, almost pulpy orange-juice feel in an IPA. Guess I'll have keep exploring more examples of the style.

    I don't think you're in the minority...

I think the idea is that what it looks like will be affected by how it is brewed, ingredients used, and so on. As such, the look can tell you (well, not you obviously ; but judges at competitions) a lot about the beer including whether it is off or something.

I don't know if this is just some sort of weird confirmation bias, but I'm sensitive to hop particulate in beer. I absolutely hate it. A few of these hazy bombs, that I otherwise really enjoy the flavor, i get a bit of that particulate and it's hard to choke down the rest of the beer, coughing, etc.

Superfan & some of these other hazy IPAs are delicious (if you're up in Portland, OR check out Great Notion), but I can totally see where people are coming from that are apprehensive about them. Some of us just don't like pulp in our orange juice...
