I really did not understand the lack of limits on that bottle, even if they did need inventory space. The chances of that one not selling out day of sale with buy limits were pretty slim considering the low count. I was very lucky to land one. Curious how the upcoming Starve D sale is going to go considering its going to be a RVA exclusive. Will there be limits? Can only hope it doesn't insta-sellout, its one I definitely plan to make the drive up for if I can secure a bottle or two.

Initially they were only dropping certain bottles and in limited quantities over different days then they got smart after all the complaining and insta sellouts and started dropping them first come first served online. Simple as placing the order, selecting a pickup time and date and thats all.

Hopefully they start announcing details sooner rather than later considering we are only a few weeks out.

I do not. I have no affiliation with them other than being a consumer from time to time. I personally do not care much for their IPAs as I think most of them taste the same and you can't distinguish the hops oftentimes. Their fruited beers, just like many other breweries doing them, are severely overprice (I get fruit isn't cheap) and don't get into the hype of trying to secure bottles knowing they will almost insta sell out for the ones people are talking up. There's way too many good beers out there to be FOMO about most of them. At this point for as long as it's been going on with not only Veil but other hype releases online it should come as no surprise that things often instantly sell out and the lack of cart protection is to be expected. We'll get the same generic response from the brewery and they rarely improve the experience no matter whether they say they're working on it so no point in b*tching to them about it.

I keep pretty current with most of the breweries in Virginia and really just post updates in this thread, as well as a couple others (The Answer, Triple Crossing) knowing not everyone is on FB, IG, etc and this is one place many may come to or at least "watch." Plus, I've been keeping these threads going for a few years now so it's really just habit to keep them going.

Thank you very much - I need a defacto vacation so I guess we'll just see - I know that certain locations are open for on site consumption so might still come down for the weekend - we'll see how things go on the bottle front, but I appreciate the info.

Well said. You mentioned cart protection and that’s a good point. I hate that you can have something in your cart, have it sell out, then cause further delays while you remove it from your cart personally.

I had a Starve B in my cart last week, went to check out and it gave me an error message. Then I had to remove it from my cart and while doing so also had the AB Toast E Coilz sell out while also in my cart.

I almost miss standing in line for it...

    Dark Daze info posted..... @cdinardo21
    _____________________________
Hello, below we will outline important facts about this year’s annual Black Friday Dark Daze event on Friday, November 27th from 12-10pm:⠀

    - There are 17x different beers (+ some very rare limited bottling and large format bottles) being released beginning on Black Friday for pickup in Richmond at our Scott’s Addition brewery and our Norfolk taproom. There will be no Dark Daze bottles for sale at our new Forest Hill location, but there will be select Dark Daze draft options there. ⠀

    - Beginning at 8AM EST on Wednesday 11/25, we will be offering a limited amount of “full allotments” that will include majority of the bottles being released, but not the highly limited bottles or large format bottles. 8AM EST on Wednesday 11/25 will be the time both Scott’s Addition and NFK allotments go live.⠀

    - Highly limited bottles, large format bottles, and any remaining bottles that didn’t make it into “full allotments” for some brands will go on sale at 12PM EST on Wednesday 11/25 for both RVA and NFK. ⠀

    - Pick up day and time slots for bottles will be selected at check-out and will begin Friday 11/27 and continue for six (6) business days afterword. ⠀

    - If multiple orders are placed you may select one of your pickup times and pick up all of your bottles at that time. ⠀

    - Reservations for on-site consumption on Dark Daze (11/27) go live on Friday (11/13).⠀

    - A very limited commemorative Dark Daze 2020 glass will also be included in the sale. Glass will not be included in the “full allotment”.⠀

    - Beer details, limits, pricing, etc will be announced in the coming weeks.⠀

    - We do not allow proxy beer pickups. Please bring an ID that matches the name on your order when picking up.⠀

Speak of the Devil! Veil just posted about DD on social media. Looks like everything will go on sale on Wednesday the 25th with the earliest pickup time being Friday the 27th. Onsite reservations open up on the 13th, that makes planning a little easier. RVA is definitely worth visiting, recommend checking out Triple Crossing and The Answer also if you make it down. Lots of really awesome food spots to check out also.

Yep - I've been several times - just been a while - and Dark Daze felt like a good excuse to come back down from Pittsburgh - I'll be hitting The Answer, TC and Final Gravity as well - but i want me some bottles! You're right - my timing was impeccable!

I'll take some advice when it comes to food spots though - a little bit of a grey area for me.

just to name a few spots.....

ZZQ is an absolute must stop. Tazza Kitchen, Moore St Cafe, Supper, Fat Dragon Chinese Kitchen, En Su Boca, The Hof Garden, Stellas, Early Bird Biscuit Company, Pho Lucas, Joe's Inn

All winners in my book and there are so many more!!!

Also check out Don't Look Back - Triple; its a cool little spot that has awesome tacos and they also have a few pool tables for entertainment. Topgolf, The Circuit Arcade and Slingshot Social Game Club are a couple other spots you can kill some time farting around playing games and such.

Even though Forest Hill won't have bottles if anyone is looking for a place to stay it appears their Airbnb connected to the location is currently open for the weekend. $179+ fees/night.

This is just awesome - thank you. I had some of the staff at the Answer send me to Jack Brown's Beers and Burgers before - any thoughts on that?

Does anyone have any idea what a "full allotment" might look like cost wise? I'm just curious and trying to budget - not looking for a reason to bitch

Jack Browns has great burgers! Patties are a little on the smaller side but they make up for it in flavor. The Cobra Kai is a favorite of mine, can't go wrong with cream cheese and jalapenos on a burger!

If they keep bottles around the normal price point you are looking at $25 - $30 for the majority of the bottles with a higher cost on the three limited bottles. I would say its safe to assume atleast a 2pp limit on the non limited stuff and maybe 3pp for some of them.

So assume maybe $25 x 17 bottles is what you're saying?

That would be on the smaller end I would think. If the "Full Allotment" option is like the Anniversary release expect it to be higher as the full allotment would contain the max amount of bottles possible considering per person per bottle counts. So for example if they were allowing 2pp of each bottle you can count on paying around $25 x 34.

Super expensive release each year considering the amount of options available and it has increased each year since the first one. I typically plan ahead for this release and Anniversary each year and just squirrel away a little at a time throughout the year because I know its always gonna be a wallet buster. Helps if you have someone willing to go in half with you also and just split the cost of a full allotment.
