First timer question. Sorry if these get asked a lot. I'm likely going to be at the Veil tomorrow Thursday August 24th. Do can releases typically last until Thursday? If so, is it the kind of thing where there would actually be a line at opening? If cans aren't left, do they sell crowlers/growlers to go?

I'm used to waiting on line at Other Half, but promised the wife we would just be "popping in" to breweries on this trip down to Hilton Head/Charleston.

It depends on the week but I think there's a good chance 3/4 cans will roll over into tomorrow. There will be no line tomorrow (there was basically no line yesterday).

Crowlers are only pre-filled and usually announced last minute like yesterday. It's possible they'll have pre-filled crowlers on Thursday, but it is not exactly likely. They still had Dusty Roadz crowlers late last night so who knows, it's possible.

    - Cans have been lasting several days over the past few weeks. Not sure what will make it but I definitely think there will be some cans left tomorrow.I would guess everything but Yella Lambz makes it to Thursday.
    - If case counts are very low (say <40 cases) for a beer they would likely drop limits to 1x 4pk/pp so I do not think there is a need to line up before opening on a Thursday if cans make it.
    - Veil has and will never done growlers and they do not fill Crowlers on demand. The only exception is if they decide to pre-fill Crowlers, which they will announce, and sell them at opening.

P.S. Highly recommend stopping by The Answer when in town. They are only about 3 miles up from The Veil. They do their Joose in Crowlers on Thurs along with their everyday Crowlers of IPAs which are easily in the Top 3 in RVA for IPAs. They open at Noon so if you get in early head there before Veil.

Let's try this again. In typical Veil fashion they like to copy, paste & post before going back and updating counts / limits. The above post has been flagged for deletion to lessen confusion. Below are the actual limits for today's (Wednesday) remaining cans.

    It's BA honey, not beer.
Funny they keep advertising it on the release day posts.

Oh wow! It doesn't actually say beer but I thought it was some type of barrel aged honey ale or something.

@tynian16 Definitely going to have cans carry to tomorrow. Should be good on EESS, Weekend at Broznies and WAKEUP. Yella Lambz definitely not making it.

The BA Honey is the perfect example of the hype The Veil can create. They had 100 cases at release. Sold 50 cases (600 bottles) the first day it was released on 7/23 and ever since then can barely move a few bottles each day if any. And they could probably care less. Coming away with $15k selling half what they made is probably far more than it cost to do the whole batch.

I felt the same way about the print they are selling with the artist signature on it. They had 25 originally at $50 a pop. Sold a few on release day I'm sure but likely not much since then. I'm guessing the guy is well known in the RVA street art / mural scene but I can't see dropping that much on a printed picture even if it does have a signature on it by the artist. If I wanted to I could print my own, frame it and not many would know the difference.

    Tonight
Tonight is what IThe Veil was regularly like, I strolled in at 5, actually parked in the lot, no line, got cans of everything from the release.

Lambz sold out later, but even so, the other three are still available now. Nice casual week for a change.

I've missed it being like this. Draft line longer than can line? Yes please. They have had a couple weeks now with the releases like that. Some say RVA is empty with folks on vacation, but also not a lot of hyped releases. Curious to see if VCU being back in session changes anything but I wouldn't be surprised if it's more like this for a while, save for the one off collaboration release, until the holidays. I certainly don't go as much these days but it's far more enjoyable when it's not an hour+ in line in the sun. Not to mention their beers have been on point lately.

Can anyone confirm is Wake Up a close clone to Stay Woke from a cpl years ago? I was visiting at the time and its one of my all time favorite beers. (If anyone has any extras pm me, maybe we could set something up?)

3 of 4 cans still remain for today...At 3x 4pk/pp I would assume they still have quite a bit left so no need to get there before open @tynian16 .

~Weekend at Broznies 9% all Citra DIPA Broz Night Out with pineapple purée $18+tax/4-pack. 3x 4-packs per person.

~Eternal Eternal Shredder Shredder 8.5% double dry-hopped imperial version of Eternal Shredder. $18+tax/4-pack. 3x 4-packs per person

WAKEUP 8% DIPA hopped with Nelson. $17+tax/4-pack. 3x 4-packs per person

From the descriptions of each I would say you are onto something there. Nice catch!! Release was actually just over 1 years ago (mid-July 2016)

WAKEUP - hopped generously and exclusively with Nelson. Notes of fresh grapefruit flesh, tangerine peel, maybe some faint passionfruit, WAKEUP almost resembles some sort of tropical punch.

Stay Woke - The second beer to be released from our 3BBL Pilot batch system. Clocking in at 8%, this Double IPA was hopped exclusively and intensely with 100% Nelson hops. Notes of tropical fruit, gooseberry, blood orange, a touch dank, and bright citrus rind.

Thanks for the help everyone! I got there around 4:15. Not crowded at all. Bought a mixed case and sampled a few beers before continuing down to my stopover in North Carolina. Great time!

Wake up is rad and it's easily the best batch of broznies they've done. I'm surprised there's this much left. Lucky for the folks who can only make it on the weekend.
