Picked up a bottle of Theakston XB. There's a code stamped on the bottle that reads, "L134 KE 14:40".

Any idea what this means? The beer tastes good (which is all that matters) but the beer is quite hazy, I can't even see through it. Reading through the reviews I've seen the beer described as both hazy and clear.

It shouldn't be hazy. I know a guy who used to brew at Theakston's and then set up his own brewery/ One of his staples is a clone of XB and it's always water bright.
Why BAs accept hazy beer (except wheat beers) , it's been considered since the 1700s that a decent beer should clear. And in those days beer was hopped like there was no tomorrow.

Good to know, thanks. It had pronounced fruity notes, but there was virtually no hop presence left.

Unlike Coniston Bluebird Bitter in the bottle that we receive, which is clear as day, with very pleasant and noticeable hoppy notes (not IPA level hoppiness of course).
