I let my friend borrow my thermanator a few months ago. I just got it back today. It looks like he didn't clean it after he cleaned it. Should I be worried? Mold is all along the outside. Can it be cleaned? Thanks

Didn't mean to put clean twice, the second clean should be used.

I would think a scrub with PBW or oxyclean would do the trick, no?

If you can pump the cleaner though for several minutes. I would also pump Star San or whatever you use to sanitize though. Then no more loaning to said friend.

    Interesting choice of "friends."

definitely can be cleaned...make up a moderately strong solution of PBW (or oxyclean) in hot water 160F+ and run that through forwards & backwards. If you've got a pump, pump solution through chiller for like 20 mins, if not, just let it soak for like 20mins partway through the process. Hit with a shot of starsan after the cleaning process and it will be good as new.
