I live in Houston TX and our ground water is not cold by any means. Im looking into getting a therminator. Do I need to use both a submersible pump and a counterflow wort chiller or can I just get by with the pump? Thanks in advance.

You can pretty much only get it as cold as your tap water. If your tap is warm (ie in the summer) then you may have to pre-chill the water before it enters into the therminator (ie in an ice bath with a separate pump).

Ya I would have an ice bath. I watched a video on youtube and they had both a pump and wort chiller for their therminator. I was just wondering if I could get away with just using the pump and not the counterflow wort chiller.

I think you can do it with just an ice bath as long as it stays cold the entire process. If you are re-circulating this water it will warm up pretty quickly.
