Wow, it's really strange how perception of thickness differs so greatly in this thread.

Ten Fidy > Abyss > BCBS for me. In my limited experience that is. And as I look up their gravity...I seem to be pretty accurate in my description.

How in the world is gravity a subjective thing?

Zhukov was the thickest stout i had experienced until i opened my Double Black with a group of friends. By far, hands down, no questions asked....thee thickest most chewy beer i have ever had and probably will. I could've just as well scooped it out with a spoon out of my snifter. Such a delicious beer.

BCBS was like melting a chocolate bar in your mouth and then taking a shot of bourbon.

Agreed with anyone that said Ten Fidy. I had one a few nights ago and I felt like I could almost chew on it. What a brilliant beer that is.

Does age change mouthfeel? I had never thought about that. Interestingly enough I have a bottle of BCS that's going on 5 years old.

I've had Zhukov and Black Tuesday in the last 3 months and thought BT was thicker. Not better or darker, but thicker.

I tend to drink mostly stouts, and Darkness, Zhukov, and Oatmeal Yeti ruled the roost for me over the past year. They are on my "trade for again" list.

Ten Fidy, other Yetis, FIS, the Prairie Noirs and Bomb, Big Bad Baptist, and the Imperial Biscottis were all a notch down but still among the thickest out there that I have had recently.

Honestly I don't remember BCBS or even Speedway Stout being *all* that thick, relatively speaking.

Would love to put down a Squatter's Outer Darkness and see where it falls, since I have not had one in a couple years.

It's even better if you pour it through a strainer first. You get to see the dead beast that lived (and died) in that bottle for 17+ years.

The Double has nothing on the Triple. Not even related. Triple isn't really a bock, it's a condiment masquerading as a stout.
