Thickest non barrel aged stout

DFH World Wide Stout is probably the thickest (and highest ABV?) I can think of that is not put in a barrel.

How are we defining thickest? The most creamy/buttery feel?

 

I have not had that one in several years, I would love revisit it.

Surly Darkness, and DFH World Wide Stout come to mind.

 

Hoppin' Frog DORIS the Destroyer. If I remember correctly, it's the most dense beer i've had.

Horus stouts are insanely thick.

But Marshal Zhukov is also crazy thick. At least, it used to be..

Not sure. I have a Penultimate Push in my fridge.. Fingers crossed it hasn't!

 

Barrel aging shouldn't have any effect on the body. If the non-Ba version is thick and chewy, so will the the barreled. And, if it goes into the barrels thin, it's gonna come out thin. There is no extra brewing that happens in the barrel.

And for the record, I find that non-BA imperial stouts are thicker than barrel aged.

I believe Mother's MILF is BA. It's a great beer, but just wanted to clarify.

 

Having one of those earlier this year was an incredible experience. When I unexpectedly saw one in a bottle shop earlier today it was an immediate purchase.

Expedition is probably up there with the thicker ones

 

Proteins that create a thick body can settle out and create a thinner body.

Pouring Mikkeller Black into my glass was like pouring ketchup from a glass bottle.

 

Which Double Shot was it? I have a couple on the way. I find those beers have a pretty good body, considering the lower ABV.
