Coconut Resolute by Brothers had the most buttery/thick mouthfeel of any stout I can recall. BCBS and WWS are up there as well.

Ten Fidy was the first thing that came to mind.

You pretty much need to be in the 12%+ ABV tier to be in the conversation. Not that ABV is black and white catch all but Id be confident to say that all stout at 15% or higher will feel thicker than all stouts at 8% or lower.

Those stick out as the first I tried that felt "lumpy" to me. Very thick, super slick, almost chewy.

There's no doubt there's plenty thicker and I've tried some of those since (BOMB!, Ten Fidy, Abyss), but Yeti and The Temptress ... yeah ... they were a new horizon on planet mouthfeel.

Look at 19.9% Black Tuesday over the last 2 years.. It's like a brown ale. Half the thickness as 6.4% Tree House Single Shot.

This is worth looking over if you're not familiar. I couldn't teach a college course on this stuff or anything, but you're both correct, in different ways.

BCBS is thick. So is Ten Fidy and Founders Imperial. BBomb and Rusty Nail are not in that level.

But the thickest I've had is Even More Jesus. Makes those others look medium.

Never had DFH World Wide Stout but that will change soon so we may have a new winner.

Not a stout, but Revolution's Rye Way to heaven was far and away the thickest beer I've ever seen. Unreal. It was like slightly watered down syrup.

This is a perennial question on BA. Wish someone would just test the viscosities of every stout and just answer the question definitively. For that matter, why not just put viscosity on the the label with IBUs and ABV.
