Things beer store employees probably say about us

It's a bit different here in PA cause of the way beer sales are restricted. Most bottle shop managers and distributors, IMO, have heard of many of the beers I ask about, but I usually get the, "Sorry, but unless you're willing to buy X cases right off the bat, it's not worth it for us to even try to stock it." Once, X>10 @ ~$60/case. I'm not willing to drop more than half a G on beer, no matter how good it is.

I've noticed this a few times. Like when i purchased a 120 and the cashier said "why are you just buying the one beer?"

 

"That guys an alcoholic, he's here everyday."

 

"Why don't you just pick already?"

 

"He has such nice hair"

EDIT: Only on days that I have nice hair

 

The stores I frequent seem to have pretty cool and helpful employees, but who knows what they say when I walk out the door. Meh...I don't know and I really don't care. Everyone talks about people at the workplace. It's a given.

One problem they have is that the importing distributors won't make a delivery of a single or few cases. One of the places where I buy much of my beer has to order 100 cases of beer from one of his regular suppliers to get a special order case from that importing distributor.

 

"This dude comes in a few times a week and looks over the beer selection like he's trying to pick options on a car. What a loser" LOL!!! I dont care though! well maybe a little but I get over it.

 

He's probably a serial killer.

 

I do this far too often (mostly with Lagunitas bottles), and I always look around to see if anyone was watching. They probably think I'm a weirdo.

As someone who actually works at a beer store, I have personally never said or thought any of this stuff except maybe have thought that "that guy knows his beer, I don't have to gladly help him out."

I will say I get annoyed when I try and explain somethings to people and they don't get my point. For example I tell them just because a beer is darker colored (medium-brown for instance) that does not necessarily mean it's stronger and heavier. Some people just won't accept little tidbits like that.

Truth be told, I used to work at a bottleshop & was always really happy to meet someone who knew their beer & could carry on a conversation. There were also a minority of that population who were just "over" everything & completely blase.
