My wife and I will be in CA later this year and I'm dying to visit FW Barrelworks. We'll be up around SF and depending on what there is to do, may try to make the trek. Can anyone recommend things to do between SF and Barrelworks? We're up for most anything, outdoors, wine, beer, tourist attractions, whatever. We don't have concrete plans yet, but some ideas I've seen so far include Hearst Castle, Paso Robles area, and Solvang. If we have enough to do, we may just decide to fly home out of LA instead of SF. Any ideas would be great; thanks!

Check out Libertine Pub in Morro Bay. Really close place in a great spot.

If you two golf, there's Pebble Beach, and my favorite public course in California, Pasatiempo in Santa Cruz. Afterwards, you can stop by Sante Adairius Rustic Ales (SARA) and try their fantastic beers, one town over in Capitola.

Always a good idea to hit up Aptos St BBQ near Sante Adarius. Good food and damn nice tap list, you know, if you're into that sorta thing.

I'll second this if you're into golf. Pasatiempo is a gem, and my favorite public course as well. Pacific Grove Golf Links near Pebble Beach is a fun lower cost option where the front nine meanders through the forest and the back nice goes out onto the beach. Morro Bay has a nice and affordable course as well.

if you're going to hit Paso Robles then of course the Firestone Walker brewery there is a no brainer. In Buellton about 5 minutes from Barrelworks is Figueroa Mtn Brewing with a nice atmosphere inside and some fire pits to sit by and sip your beer outside.

Thanks for the ideas so far everyone. I see Barrelworks is only open a few days a week so that will definitely determine when we visit there. Looking forward to being in CA again. My wife and I hit Napa, SF, and Yosemite in 2009 and I went with a friend for a long weekend in San Diego a few years ago. Love the West coast.

If you're traveling down to Paso Robles, hit me up. I live in Monterey County right off of the 101

Many wineries in Paso Robles (west side of the 101 Fwy.) and Santa Barbara County are doing a top-notch job. The countryside in these areas is beautiful. And, as with most wine countries, there are numerous outstanding restaurants. Either of these regions could be a vacation on its own.

If you're going to visit Hearst Castle, you might want to drive south a bit to a quaint town called Cambria. One of my favorite areas in Central California. I really like Paso Robles too.
