Logan's Alley is definitely the jam.

If you're looking for awesome doughnuts, Propaganda Doughnuts is a must stop. Not too far from HopCat, GRBC and The B.O.B. Donuts+Beer=Win Win.

Perrin, Founders and Harmony are my favorites in town and HopCat and Pike 51 (in Hudsonville) are worth stops as well. If you're coming up from the Indiana then Greenbush and Tapistry are close to the freeway and both make excellent beer. I use to love New Holland in Holland but have been unimpressed my last few stops but probably still worth a stop and there's a nano brewpub Our Brewing right next door.

Everybody on this thread has been amazing! My kudos to all of you. Vivant and Arcadia have been added to the itinerary for sure and we are discussing the other options so thank you.

The Green Well is across from Vivant and has great food and beer!

I dig Van's Pastry on Fulton for coffee/pastries.

That's I-94 for both of those, I-96 is further north.

Dark Horse is a cool visit and Marshall has a beautiful downtown area, but it's a solid 35-40 minutes east of Kalamazoo/Bell's. Sounds like the OP is just curving around Lake Michigan, so Dark Horse might be a significant detour. They usually don't have much on tap that isn't currently available in stores anyway, at least not compared to what Bell's or Founders will have on their boards.

Also, to bad your just on the west side...The dates your here are the dates of the Michigan Brewers Guild Fall Beer Festival in Detroit....

Definitely hit up Greenbush along I-94. Save some room for their phenomenal brisket and pulled pork, in addition to their many delicious brews.

Just letting you know that B. Vivant isn't anywhere near Founders and HopCat.. at least not in terms of walking distance. But i'll echo Green Well across from BV. Hit up the frittes at BV, and go chow down at Green Well. Also, Donkey Taqueria is across from Elk Brewing. Decent beer, but Donkey Taqueria is phenomenal. The Mitten has some decent beer, and awesome pizza flight. Also, White Flame Brewing is a newer spot, a bit out of the way, but they're putting out some good beer IMO.

If you're going to Founders, hit them up before they open or good luck having anything. Also HopCat.. be prepared to wait, but it's worth it!

Digging up an old thread instead of creating a new one...

I've been to Grand Rapids a hundred times but it's been a while since I've last gone. This weekend, I'll be there for the Breakfast Stout Breakfast and are looking for some places that I haven't been to yet. We've done Founders, Vivant, Hideout, Hopcat, etc. for beer and some cool breakfast places like Wolfgangs and Real Food Cafe.

Specifically, I'm looking for home made food for breakfast, non frozen, non chain dinner (Donkey Taqueria sound interesting) and anything else that may have sprang up recently or missed.

    Thanks!

Looks pretty damn awesome. Is their beer menu from their website what's on tap? There are a ton of awesome sounding brews there!

You want to go to Brandywine. It's better than Wolfgangs (don't let anyone tell you different).

Marie Catribe's for breakfast, but be prepared to wait if you go on a weekend. It's pretty much right around the corner from Brewery Vivant if you want to revisit there, and is also close to Harmony Brewing which has okay to good beers and great pizza. Elk Brewing is a new brewery in town this year, and it is also on that side of town.

Grand Rapids Brewing Company (GRBC) actually does a really good brunch, lots of higher end dishes but reasonably priced. Plus they have an extensive bloody mary bar available with it (and you know, beer). Graydon's Crossing also does a good brunch. Also on Sunday's the Downtown Market does different brunch options, Fish Lads usually has awesome selection during the brunch tastings. These options are all brunch though and usually start around 10 or 11, so if you wanted earlier breakfast, plan accordingly.
