I vacationed in MI this year, so I'm certainly no local giving a recommendation. I will echo the Founders, GRBC, Hop Cat, and B Vivant comments. Also going to say that the 1 night my wife and I had a date night in town with a sitter watching our boy, we ventured to the BOB (after walking from a couple already mentioned locations), and found it rather interesting. A piano bar nearly empty. Pool tables uninhabited. Bobs brewery in house beer selection with, you know, new tickers. An apparent night club with no one dancing. Truly, a one of a kind place. The owner of the establishment(or so he proclaimed), walked in with us, and seemed surprised to have new guests entering whom he'd never seen before. Not a must go to, but certainly a memorable experience for us.

    Hi all,

I've accepted a job in the Grand Rapids area, and will be going up there this week-end, starting Monday.

Great breakfast recommendations in this thread, I can't wait to try some of these.

I'm looking for good bottle shops in the area, and possibly any first hand brewery recommendations (I've been to Hopcat,Founders, Perrin and Brewery Vivant during the interview process). I'll take any info around Grand Rapids really.

I'd love to meet some of you (I'll be solo for 5-6 months) and grab a beer if you are in the area, also if you want anything from the Columbus area that doesn't hit your distro please let me know and I will hook it up for you (Bodhi/Jackie O's etc).

Looking forward to experiencing Grand Rapids!

For my interview, my boss took me to the Grove (right next to Brewery Vivant). It was very good.

Try the three course special for $35. Great deal, nice taplist too.

To the Grove? must be a good job. Congrats. The Grove is the best restaurant in that tier in GR in my opinion.

I would love if you'd bring some Bodhi. As far as bottle shops, there are some other threads but Rishi's and Siciliano's have the best selection, plus you can buy singles of everything which I find appealing. I'd be up for a beer, not that I can get out of the house that often... post something when you hit town and what area (NE, SE, SW, NW) that you'll be staying / working in.

If you haven't already, you should hit up Founders today, CBS should still be pouring.

Cbs is on tap right now, and will be on "sporadically" throughout the day.
