Gonna be in the Milwaukee area in 3 weeks, hotel by the airport. Any must visit brewpubs nearby? I'm going to spend the majority of the weekend at the Blue Pig in Cudahy, but the wife is looking for alternatives? Milwaukee Brewing Co and the cheese factory across the street are strong contenders. Anything else?
I second Lakefront. I've done the tour about 4 times now. It's a must for me when I head to Milwaukee.
For bars around the airport...Erv's Mug on Ryan Rd/ Howell (Oak Creek) and Landmark 1850 Inn on Howell Ave within a stones throw (srs) of the airport....just don't take the wife to the lounge next door.
I'll also recommend the Lakefront tour, really fun time. Also, if you have a vehicle and can get away for a few hours, New Glarus is about a 1.5 hour drive away from Milwaukee and very much worth the trip. They have a self-guided tour that you can do for free, and for a couple bucks you get a tasting glass and I think 5 4oz pours. The grounds are beautiful themselves as well. There are several good beer bars in town, too. My wife and I really enjoyed just walking the riverwalk and the public market as well.
About 20-25 minutes straight south on I94 will bring you to Uncle Mikes Hwy Pub. One of the best taplist and bottle list in the area. Its right on Hwy 50 and i94
Only bar "near" Miller Park worth visiting (for beer) is Benno's on 74th/ Greenfield Ave. It's about 5 minutes away, depending on traffic.
