I'm from PA so I have no clue if FFF will ever branch out, but wow do they make some great hoppy brews. I just had Arctic Panzer Wolf, Dreadnaught, and Zombie Dust in a trade, and they are all top notch. Zombie Dust beats out any APA or IPA I've ever had, and Dreadnaught is right up there with PtE and just behind Heady Topper for me. I'm just surprised that a brewery capable of making such amazing stuff doesn't distribute far at all. I'd love to see some of their stuff come to PA. Zombie Dust for ~$35 a case has to be the best APA/IPA value out there. Such amazing stuff. So I guess the question is, does anyone know if they're going to grow in the future to spread past Ohio into PA? I assume many of us Pennsylvanians would be loyal FFF customers. So please do!

They are already in the process of an expansion project. I hope they wait until they can meet the demand in existing markets before they expand anywhere.

Yeah before 3 floyds can expand outside of its current market they need to be able to supply their current people. I work in a liquor store just north of Indy and we have a decent beer selection, and you can't get ANYTHING from floyds. I would like to not see them expand because they are my favorites to throw in as extras in trades.

I never have a problem getting just about anything from them here in Louisville. I have heard rumors about expansion as stated above and the worries about distribution issues.

On a side note, Im coming up to Pittsburg for the Gratitude release if you want anything.

its funny because one of my beers stores here in michigan use to cary some of their beers, now they don't, so sad!

Seems like a lot of breweries spread themselves to thin. It would be nice to see them expand and take care of there existing market.

I could understand that. If you can't even get their stuff where they are that's an issue. So getting it in eastern PA might be a ways off. Either way, they put out some top notch stuff. I'd love to try more of their brews. At least we get Bell's and Founders here, not a bad consolation prize from the midwest. ZD would be so nice though compared to any IPA Bell's or Founders puts out. I'd take it over Two Hearted, Hopslam, Double Trouble, etc. Dreadnaught even more so. Founders does stouts right though, and Bell's ain't too shabby either.

I agree that $35 per case of The Dust is virtually an unbeatable deal in the APA/IPA world... I also don't think FFF should try to expand to new markets until they can meet demand at home. They practically don't distribute ZD at all as it sells out at the brewpub at the rate of 50 cases per hour.
I'm hoping they don't pick up new states just yet...

Well good... They now need to produce enough to distribute it!

Indiana doesn't even get Zombie Dust yet. Gumballhead is hard to find on shelves instate. People treat it like a limited release yet stores get it every Friday. They won't be expanding anytime soon.

I do love me some Three Floyds though. I've had fifty or more beers from Three Floyds and almost all of them have been world class.

$35 for a case of pale ale ale is unbeatable? seriously??

For this pale ale, yes. It's really mislabeled IMO. It's got the body and the bitterness of an IPA. It's more hop forward and tasty than Two Hearted or Centennial as far as Midwest IPAs go, and at least in PA they are around 38-40 a case. When I said that, I meant for that particular beer in terms of flavor vs price. $35 for most pales would be more than I'd pay.

    Sorry, should I have clarified;
$35 for a case of a pale ale AS INTENSELY DELICIOUS as ZD is unbeatable.

Yeah-- I'm sure we could buy a case of some other pale ale for cheaper, but it wouldn't taste as good as the Dust.
<$1.50 per bottle is a very fair price for a beer of this quality.

I think people on here underestimate how ravenous people are for Zombie Dust. When a new batch comes out a line will form outside and they'll sell fifty cases an hour from around 6pm to close. It's nuts.

FFF is undergoing an expansion project right now. They are expanding their offices, adding a quality control lab, and I think they are adding some improvements to brewpub kitchen. However, I don't think any of the additions would actually increase production. At the risk of inciting an interstate verbal war, FFF does focus on their "local area" depending on how you define that. My definition of their "local area" is not the state of Indiana rather Northwest Indiana and Chicagoland who have been their main source of support from their beginnings. If you look at the distribution patterns, I would say FFF defines it that way as well since the latest release of Zombie Dust (albeit a very small amount) has only been distributed within that area and sold through the brewpub. I've never felt FFF has looked at state lines to define "local," and frankly they shouldn't because their brewpub has been filled with Northwest Indianans and Illinoisans from Chicagoland for years.

Unless their expansion project has a "phase two," I'm not quite sure FFF wants to become Bell's or some of the other larger craft breweries. Perhaps, they are happy with being a smaller regional brewery.

This post makes me want to try dreadnaught and zombie dust even more. Haven't had the pleasure of any 3F. been trying to get a trade going but I really don't have much to offer.
