So I have been thinking about making the jump to electric Herms setup. I looked at the Spike 15 gallon turnkey but $5,300 is a big jump. My research has me piecing things together without the controller for $2,500 for a 3 brew kettle setup. My questions are which controller should I use? I currently have a complete all grain setup, but do I use the parts I currently have or should I sell that and start fresh? I only brew 5 gallon batches currently but I would like to brew bigger in the near future.

If u got the cash I'd sell your current system and go with the turn key system. Less aggravation and you will be up and brewing quickly

Wow, $2,500 is still a lot. Especially for an electric system that takes longer to heat and eliminates the possibility of scorching the wort for beers like Scottish ale and so forth. I'd think you could find used kegs and get them welded up into a brewing system for less, although that would only net you about 10 gallons at a time. But do you really need THAT MUCH BEER!?
