A buddy of mine called me today, while on vacation in CA he picked up some beers to ship back home to his house. When he checked the Status today it was updated as signed for by **** Sheriff's Office. It was shipped through Fed Ex. Just curious if any of you have had anything like this happen? Should he be worried?

That's a new one to me, can't say it bodes well. On the other hand I think the worst case scenario is that he doesn't get his beer. Wouldn't be worried about any legal repercussions.

That's crazy that they had a person from the Sheriffs office sign and pick it up. Im curious to see if anyone else has ever had that happen

First I've heard of this. Keep us posted though, as that is quite odd.

Probably a practical joke. Liquor control is usually at state level. I doubt if send/receiving would violate local ordinances.

I don't think this is a practical joke, as it showed up on his tracking info on Fed Ex's tracking site as signed by **** Sheriff's Office.

You either have a very law abiding fed-ex worker that found out whats in the box, and turned it in to her local sheriffs department. Or as another said, was your buddy trying to ship something a little bit more illegal also with the beers?

I just heard from the guy today, JSO called him. His box was inspected by JSO, and then returned to FEDEX for delivery. It is right now listed as "on truck for delivery". That is the strangest thing I have ever seen in regaurds to beer trading. I guess they suspected it of containing more than beer, and for the record it was shipped in a 12 bottle styro shipper.
