Interested to see what you might think of the Dominion. Not often I see a name in this forum from my neck of the woods.

As well as the stout I also got a Hop Mountain Pale Ale from Dominion

Will let you know how I get on via review as will probably save them for a few weeks

Not opening any US or Belgians yet! Got Bateman's Gold Medal 2012, Morrisons Hedgerow Porter, Wadworth Henry's IPA, Graflisches Arcobrau Weizen Hell gonna sup. I keep looking at my Mikkeler Black and thinking "hmmm, should I?" but intend to give it its recommended 3 year ageing so will resist until Christmas.

I saw the Bateman's Gold Medal but left it. Hedgerow Porter eh? Perhaps I should visit Morrisons.

I am a bit pissed off with Morrisons at present, they have stopped their 4 for £4.50 offers. I might get their Hot Cross Ale next week. I almost bought it last year but picked something else instead. Morrisons beers are brewed by Titanic. I may acknowledge the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic by sinking one of theirs beers! :stuck_out_tongue:

Went to my local today and found Young's London Porter on handpump so had to force a few down just to test how it was. Gorgeous, silky smooth, tasty yet with a modest ABV (4.2%) That with an excellent lunch all for a very few pounds.

The bottle was bloody marvellous, the cask must be truly exceptional.

Lidl came up trumps today with 4-packs of both de Bocq Gauloise Blond and Amber, as well as singles of Marstons Oyster Stout, Jennings Cocker Hoop and Sheperd Neame 4-4-2 and Tapping the Admiral.

Sheperd Neame 4-4-2 and Tapping the Admiral sound interesting
I hope however that they aren't both Golden Ales (when or how is this style going to get recognised on Ba?)

They are unfortunately. Though Tapping the Admiral is dark gold, and is apparently going for brandy-esque flavours. The Gauloise Blonde is very nice, even at room temp. Can't wait to have a cold one.

Gauloise isn't bad and certainly better than the cigarettes bearing the same name. Marstons Oyster Stout is another fine beer and style which really deserves much more attention.

Just had a Coopers Pale Ale. Well, that was 341 ml of stomach capacity I won't get back for a few hours now.

    I am surprised
I've always greatly enjoyed Coopers stuff.

The Bateman's Gold Medal was certainly not worthy of a podium finish. Henry's I.P.A was only slightly better and the Weizen Hell I enjoyed. Might keep the Hedgerow Porter 'til tomorrow.
I preferred the Sparkling Ale and Extra Stout from the Coopers range. Yet to try their Vintage Ale.

Yes I do appear to be out of sync liking their Pale Ale, perhaps this correlates to my appalling taste in music lmao

Golden Ale is simply a bitter. There are too many "styles" already.

AEK is right in the money IMHO. The Sparkling Ale and stout are both superb and the Vintage no slouch either. The Pale Ale really lets the side down. Always has.Time for a rejig I'd say.
