I never noticed much variation in this beer from year to year. This year's seems to have way more charred grain & more coffee then I remember. Am I losing it???

Very roasty, definitely some coffee in there. I love Hibernation, can't beat $116 for a 1/2 bbl (from the source)

Is that including the 20% discount if you are a member of AHA?

Loving it this year. It does seem more roasty and a hair less sweet. Kind of like a "double Isolation," which is my usual favorite of the winter beers. In previous years I loved Hibernation for about 1/2 glass and then got sick of it. This year that is not an issue.

.. I think those are warning sings for a stroke... haha, just tried it the other day love the beer. Didn't really notice much of a change, but it's hard for me to remember from a year ago.

Interesting...never been a fan of this one, a little too sweet for me. But sounds like a nice dose of roast and coffee could help balance this one out. Might have to give it a try.

every year I get a six pack of this and cellar it to drink the next year. I've always appreciated it was a little on the sweet side, so it wasn't too thin after a year in the cellar. guess I'll have to report back next November

just had a pint out with dinner: definitely seems like more roast and drier.

I also like this beer much better with a year on it. Not a big fan of the initial hoppyness, but after that aspect has faded somewhat, I love Hibernation. Anyone notice any difference with hopping, in addition to the observations on roast/dryness?

Every year I grab a six pack of Hibernation, Odell Isolation and Avery Old Jubilation and have a taste off. I can never keep it around long enough to age it.

It just seems like a different beer this year. I must've liked it, already killed a sixer in less than 2 weeks...

Someone gave me an '07 Hibernation last year (as an extra) and it was freakin' amazing, convinced me to start cellaring six-packs of it as well. 3-5 years seems to be a sweet spot for this beer.

Hell I'll settle for it in Missouri or KS, perhaps this will come with OB east opened (?) up in NC. The list of beers we don't get in the Sooner State is long & sad. We are happy to have Avery return:grinning:
