Just tried the Orange Chocolate IPA and The Up the Creek IPA. The Orange Chocolate was pretty good but not enough chocolate malt taste for me. Not something I would consistently buy but the Up the Creek IPA was a stellar hoppy brew that will definitely become a must-have in my variety packs. And it's 12.5 ABV, which I'm fairly sure means it get you hammered faster? I'm in college at NC State but I live in Aiken, SC. Going to roadtrip to Greenville when I get back. Anyone here a Thomas Creek fan and/or been to the brewery? Suggest some of the other flavor varieties

Digging this out from the archives - I've been slowly discovering their brews over the last few months. River Falls Red Ale, the Octoberfest, Coffee Oatmeal Porter, all very solid brews that I would happily buy sixers of.

I once tried the Banana Split Stout on tap. It had an aggressive yeast profile upfront, but there was a decent beer lurking behind it. I wondered if it might be better from a bottle, but I never got around to trying it.

It's also worth noting that Thomas Creek is (or was) the brewer for O'Dempsey's in Atlanta. While their beers are fairly mediocre, IMO, their Your Black Heart RIS is the best of the bunch by far.

I'm not a huge fan of this brewery, some of their one-off's and specialty brews are OK, but I think the year round line up is pretty average

I had Up The Creek several years ago and I can't recall being that enamored by it. Perhaps I had a less than fresh one? I may just have to give it and other Thomas Creek beers another whirl.

I've only had Up the Creek and I really liked it. More of a hoppy barleywine for sure but still good. Haven't had any of their other beers since the scores aren't very good. Only reason I even got a single of Up the Creek is because a beer friend of mine recommended it. No one else has recommended any of their other beers to me so I'm not in a hurry to try them. I only live an hour and a half away from Greenville so maybe the next time I take a trip down there I'll visit the brewery and make my assessment.

Most of Thomas Creek's stuff is pretty good. Nothing that will merit a parade, but nothing poorly made. Up the Creek is, as Immortale25 said, more of a hoppy Barleywine, but dangerously drinkable for 12.5%. Their Chocolate Orange IPA is good, but fails to live up to such an interesting idea. Their Coffee Oatmeal Porter is probably my favorite of their beer I've tried--I really dig it. Haven't had their Conduplico Immundus Monachus in a few years, but really enjoyed the last bottle I had back in 2012 or 2011.
